Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    NUI Galway Forum Charter

    Current Moderators: KittyeeTrix, Musical.x,

    Edu CMods: Bobblehead Panda, spurious

General Boards rules apply as always. Read the FAQ and Terms of Use at the bottom of the page for more.

    Advertising
No advertising or pimping of products and/or services. Buy A Banner

    Accomodation
Please don't start threads saying you've got a brilliant low-rent house 2 minutes from the college available. They will be deleted/merged with the stickied accommodation or moved to the proper place (see 2nd post)

    SU Elections Campaigning
Not allowed here. It's lazy, annoying, exploitative and will descend into dross. Try getting out and talking to people instead.

    Thread bumping
Please refrain from bumping a thread until it has fallen from the first page.

    Text Speak
Please do not use text speak on the forum. You have a better chance at getting an answer if people can understand what you are talking about.

    Event Notices
Events may be posted in the NUI Galway forum but there are rules to be followed which are:

Posters will have to obtain permission from KittyeeTrix or musical.x before creating threads advertising any events.

You must be an established poster ie with 100 posts or more to post, or >1 year on boards.

You cannot profit from posting here

Events should either be on-campus or organised/endorsed by a recognised society/club off-campus. We don't want to hear about the cheap drinks offer by a nightclub.

Post useful events, not weekly meetings that you have all the time.
Any queries should be directed towards either KittyeeTrix or musical.x BEFORE posting.

Threads posted without prior permission from the moderators will be deleted without exception!

    Flaming
Lower your vitriol. It gives you wrinkles. Personal attacks, general abuse and flaming/trolling will be met with consequences...report any posts you think a moderator needs to look at. Don't respond in-thread.

    Innapropriate abusive language
Use of inappropriate abusive language will not be tolerated, in any form. Outbursts of personal abuse be it directed at other board members or at students in general is strictly prohibited. Posts will be edited/moved/deleted as we see fit and bans and/or infractions issued to the poster of such. The basic rule is keeping it civil; you can have disagreement without resorting to personal abuse

    Trolling accusations
Do not accuse another poster of trolling on thread. Use the report post function instead.

    Violence
Advocating violence is just not on. Posts containing violence/advocating violence will result in an infraction or ban depending on the extremeness of the post.

    Spamming
Multiple- and Cross-Posts will be deleted, you will be banned for repeat offenses and the thread may be locked. Plus it's annoying for everyone else. Don't do it.

    Surveys
Please post surveys in the survey forum and put a link to the thread in your signature. If you ask nicely via PM, you may be allowed to post the link here. Any posts outside of that thread without moderator approval will lead to infractions/bans depending on seriousness.

    Mid-Thread Conversations
Banter is fine, but keep your posts related to the topic please. There is a PM function for a reason.

    Off-topic Guidelines
Replies should try to be on-topic. Although we understand that the nature of this Forum leads to off-topic replies and that off-topic replies can be entertaining it shall be at the sole discretion of the moderators as to how off-topic post will be dealt with.

    Pornography & Extreme Graphical Posts
A lot of the users in this forum post from college computer suites or from work. The last thing they want to see is the 'latest' beheading/trainwreck meme from LoweringPeoplesStandards.com.

    Lecturers
Do not name, identify or refer to lecturers or other college staff. If you don't understand why, sit down for a minute and figure it out.

    Questioning mod actions on-thread
If you have a problem, PM the Moderators of this forum with your query or complaint. Don't do it in thread!

In the rare instance where contacting the Moderators doesn't deliver a satisfactory resolution, please reconsider the validity of your position before escalating.

Please report any posts you think a mod needs to review using the Report Post function (report.gif on the side of each post). Mods can't read every post so posters are relied on to bring something to a moderator's attention.

Disputing bans and/or infractions go through the DRP, otherwise post in the Helpdesk for other queries/problems.

Moderator discretion applies. This charter is subject to change so please keep an eye on it.

    Thanks for reading
