    but still a double

Who will start both games though?

Ederson, Laporte(if he doesn't get injured again!) and maybe De Bruyne. After that I'm not sure.

I have Aguero, KDB and Mahrez so I'm thinking of keeping KDB and one of Mahrez/Aguero. I can then bring in Laporte in 29 if it happens.

When would be a good time to use a wildcard, baring in mind i'd use week before it to cover a big double game week with a bench boost

Also when would people recommend using the free hit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,254 ✭✭✭✭km79

    Makes no difference to me
    KDB and that is it
Refuse to get sucked in when we all know all the other main FPL assets will not start both

I don't see Chelsea or City being too comfortable coming out to reschedule a game due to participation in the FA cup QF before they have even qualified for that stage. Surely they would wait till after one of them have qualified for the quarter Final which would be the Tuesday after GW28. 8 days notice maximum for the rescheduled game. City would then be gw 29 Sunday Utd A Wed Chelsea A Gw30 Sat Burnley H then real madrid on a Tuesday don't think they would voluntarily be looking for that schedule before the biggest game of their season. Id say they would prefer to fit it into gw 37 even as part of a treble gw if they had to over fitting it into gw 29.

31 feels fairly straight forward, no Liverpool and I free hit, Liverpool and i don't.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

The problem with this mythical dgw BB is that you are forcing yourself to only pick from 8 or 10 teams when you wildcard and forcing yourself to pick from one gw of fixtures. When you sgw BB you can pick whatever week you think the fixtures are best and can have players from any team you want.

  • Registered Users Posts: 805 ✭✭✭SameOleJay

I think the value in some doubles is the confidence you can have in guys playing and no zeros on the bb.

Say Liverpool go through against Chelsea unless there is a big upset you are likely left with 3/4 games:

    1. Burnley v Watford
    2. Wolves v Bouremouth
    3. Norwich v Everton (assuming Spurs beat Norwich)
    4. Newcastle v Villa (goes ahead if Newcastle beat WBA away)

Is it really worth playing a free hit to get 11 players from those fixtures?

You'd want 3 from Wolves, DCL+Ricky and Grealish.. maybe a Burnley player or two and then you'd be in real punt territory.

Even if Liverpool are knocked out I'm thinking a -4 to get me to even 7 players would do the job. Then you've got much more flexibility around doubles later on in season.

With rotation later in the season, I'd have less confidence in players starting then than I would now.

An advantage of that alright. My argument has always been that its not the only time you can play the BB and that there are negatives to a dgw BB that can happen before and after the actual dgw BB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,520 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

Even an unambitious BB with all doubles will probably get you 8 points just for showing up.

I don't have 15 doubles anyway. Between a mix of doublers and big players with singles the bench can look good.

Having said that i had been looking for a week all season for playing it if things aligned. Hasn't come, neither has an early wildcard to prompt it either. Both ways are fine.

Depends what you have from that in your regular team. I currently have Jimenez, Grealish, Lascelles, plus Rico and Hayden who look to have been dropped. If I can get to 7 I'd stick on that.

A successful DGW is more reliant on having a decent captain than bench fodder playing twice.

I still have wildcard, BB and Free Hit left and have no firm strategy on when to use them.

GW 31 seems to be key - would be a waste to use Free Hit I reckon, a lot will depend if Liverpool progress in the cup

Do we know yet if city will have DGW in 29?

If they don’t I may sell Aguero this week for a hit

Wait ti Friday before making any moves in case there's an announcement.

    I will.
Might be time for me to wildcard after the BGW anyway.
Have Aurier, Aguero, Rico, Firmino, Traore, Noble all in my squad, need to get rid of a few.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 907 ✭✭✭howareyakid

My favoured strategy for negotiating the blank and double GWs over the last two seasons has been to build towards the first blank, wildcard out the back of it with the next double in mind, FH for the next blank and then BB for the double. That’s what I feel I’ll aim to do this season as well. I made a slight mistake by possibly not planning for this early enough as I’ve left myself a transfer short of fielding a full 11 for the blank without any hits (that’s if Liverpool blank) but hopefully with a bit of luck things will work out ok!

If arsenal go out here. Crelins dgw 29 would stand a chance of happening.

    What exactly could happen now?

Arsenal man city can get rescheduled for the wednesday of gw 29 as arsenal are out of the EL and city dont play in the CL that midweek.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,432 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

So not happening. A made up DGW, those odds were ridiculous, 90% chance of it going ahead when there was no indication that it was ever likely to happen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,264 ✭✭✭✭manual_man

Probably asked already: if you have 2ft going into gw31 and then use free hit, do you then have 2ft the following gw, or just 1?

Latest from Ben Crellin’s twitter is link to City forum where some guy with 5,000 posts says Arsenal game will be next Wednesday and is backed up by another reliable poster. They’ve known for a couple of days so don’t know what the delay is with the announcement.

Bad form from PL if they do announce it with only 8 days notice for fans.

Pep made a slip of the tongue too when he was talking about City's fixtures over the next few weeks and mentioned Arsenal game.

If this City double gameweek is confirmed I suppose KDB & Auba will be the main options? Anybody else of interest, Mahrez/Mendy maybe. I will not be taking a hit to get Auba in unfortunately. We will know the fixtures for GW31 by Thursday so any transfer's I make will be geared towards that and not free-hitting.

31 is the fly in the ointment .I also will not be free hitting. Liverpool/salah are the main problem. To get Auba I have to sell Salah. If he has a game in 31 that is probably crazy. If they don't then I will be screwed :D
    It is very tricky.
Realistically too Auba's second game will not yield too many points imo
If Liverpool progress i may just stick to the plan

Sarr rising last night was an annoyance too

I don’t have any assets from either team and am thinking of selling Ricky and Ings to get Dilva and Jesus (c).

You gave me similar sage advice on Zaha a couple of weeks back so I’ll take it on board.

Hoping I don’t have to make any desperate DGW transfers this week and we have an extra double to play with in last few weeks.

If TV companies and/or Arsenal are fighting it you have to imagine it’s getting v unlikely at this stage. I think I saw Crellin say 8 days was shortest notice he can remember.

Edit: Just googled it and there are articles in Mirroe and Sun saying PL have proposed it but Arsenal fans aren’t happy as there would be no trains back to London. Hope Arsenal hold out - makes sense for them as they would get a City reserve side if it’s on around a champions league quarter or semi.

There’s more: some City blogger with a blue tick is quoted on Crellin’s twitter saying he’s heard it’s been rescheduled. Bizarre that they haven’t announced it.

    Just to expand on earlier
Ricky is in decent form despite fixtures
Ing I can see the appeal of selling tbh
    But
Silva will not play both DGW fixtures
    Neither will jesus
    And
Never captain Jesus . Ever .
    And
I don’t think those 2 fixtures are appealing as a DGW
Both united and arsenal have tightened up a lot at the back.
KDB and no other city for me . And at this stage I’m also considering selling him as I need cash and others pointed out to me the fixture run he has etc

That's a fools gold DGW in my opinion, not many options for either teams, and no gimme fixtures

If sheff utd lose they could reschedule the game against Villa for gw 31 as Villa are already out of the cup.

I'll likely have no Arsenal or City players and doubt I'll use my ft or take hits to get any. Focusing on gw31 now and have a few targets for that, not changing my plan to get Auba/City players who I don't know will even play.

Have KDB and i think i'll just leave it at that. Thoughts are more towards gw31 which is more doable with Liverpool playing and no need to burn the free hit chip now.

If you have KDB/Auba in particular you should be captaining them surely. Similar with Aguero (although there’s more chance he’ll have less minutes than the others)

I had JUST made my peace with not having Aguero for the rest of the season..

Since I’m on Wildcard it looks like I’ll have to keep DGW29 in mind and plan to FH in 31...

Suppose KDB is prob the call for me now alright so
Mane and salah both hope to Bournemouth uncaptained
    Feels wrong

After Foden’s heroics in the Carabao cup, I might go for him, replace Barnes who I just brought in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,787 ✭✭✭Benimar

Initial thoughts are to just go with KDB. Auba costs me a -4 and possibly a Mane sacrifice, which is too high a price.

I currently have 7 for GW31, which would be 8 if I do my planned Grealish to Sarr. If I take a hit for Auba, I could be down to 5 and I might have to FH in GW31, something I want to avoid.

There is still the WC, but I haven’t really considered that yet.

Grealish to sarr is my most likely transfer now as well and bank the second one
    Keep it simple

Just last week I took out KDB for bruno. Have Auba for DGW but dont know if thats enough. Would have to sacrifice salah to get KDB back and not sure it's worth it
