Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I take into account you can get custom songs and maps on PC. So while no update from BS themselves, there's no shortage of songs to play on PCVR, ie: the community are keeping the PCVR version going.

I love the game, but when Facebook got involved they tried to make it more broad and it just doesn't work imo. I'd love to see the sales figures for the ID, Greenday and Timberland packs. Most of that music just doesn't work in a game like this. And I believe they're wasting time, money and effort trying to get rights from big names, when the game would be far better supporting up and coming songs with a proper beat. Most of the original songs I wouldn't have dreamed of listening to, but they suit the game so I loved them.

It's like when Guitar Hero and Rock Band were running out of good music and started releasing crap that didn't suit it.
As someone who got this a week or so back on steam ,and modded it about 10 minutes after it installed it's great , but without the ability to add my own songs I probably wouldnt bother , I mean PSVR owners are missing out n the glory that is 'I'm on a boat' on Expert :)

I would absolutely love this but the fact i could only play ****ty dance songs on psvr is making me hold out. I wanna be able to play I'm on a boat :(

I wasn't too pushed on the music initially, but they quickly ended up in a Spotify playlist. While I'm a fan of some EDM, I wouldn't usually listen to the types of EDM that's in Beat Saber, but they grew on me through playing.

Thing is, that type of music (imo) is perfect for these types of games. You need something with a good beat, and the madness that can be in some of these songs really adds to the experience of playing. Each to their own and all that, but the songs from Imagine Dragons, Greenday and Timberland just don't do it for me.

Still think we need a 90's dance mix, and some proper Rock and Metal would also suit, again all music that has a proper, decent beat and no moany bitch singers.

New music coming August 17th. Prepare to be disappointed...

I won't be holding my breath, but trying to figure out if the date reveal picture is a hint. It's not a typical background, and I reckon it's a small bit of a logo or album cover art for whoever is next. But I'm terrible with modern music so no point in me even guessing.

Image link because the image itself is hooj! Curiosity is getting the better of me, might post in the music forum and see if anyone recognises the background. Will trawl through the cesspool that is Reddit first though.

Hmmmm. I'll admit to slightly liking some of their songs. It will be very dependant on which ones. And not sure if I can cope with him screaming into my ear for too long. Some songs will suit. Numb, not so sure, seems a bit slow in general. Actually, most of their songs are pretty much on the slow/ballad side.

Agreed! What would be more disappointing is if there is only 3 new tracks after months of nothing other than the fitness track and the 90/360/1-hand maps.
In any case I'm enjoying Pistol Whip a lot more.

3? So Numb, Crawling and In The End i'm guessing (reddit doesn't play well with the work VPN). Better be free at the very least! I don't usually do it, but I'll be letting them know how crap they've become since they sold their sold to AdBook.

Will pick up Pistol Whip at the end of the month. Might even chance Audica, been tempted to pull the trigger on that a few times.

I'd love to say I'll wait until it goes on sale, but they rarely if ever do. I know about 3 of those songs. Do they all at least have a beat (ie: not slow)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,620 ✭✭✭Graham_B18C

They're rock songs so they're not going to be the same as dance songs. But I wouldn't call them slow, no. There's plenty of slow songs that are excellent on beat saber, Bad Liar on E+ by Imagine Dragons is one of the best levels in the game IMO.

This is where we disagree. There is no good Imagine Dragons song to me. And the same with Linkin Park, I listened (but never consciously chose to) some of their popular ones. I think this is another pass for me. At this stage, it'll probably be quicker for some other company to create a similar style game and have better music hopefully. I don't blame Beat Games (as much), I blame AdBook.

It's weird but I think a good map can make you like a song. I learned this in Supernatural, the maps flow so well and I found myself really enjoying tracks that I wouldn't listen to outside of the game.

This is true, I actually ended up humming "if you want to escape with me come take my hand" for days after I started playing Beat Saber.

Wouldn't have bothered with the song at all if I hadn't played it, but the game mechanics must have drilled it into my head! :pac:

I agree with you on this. I don't think ANY of the songs in beat saber are good yet I love playing the game.
I actually think 90% songs are cringey to the point where I get a chuckle out of em.

Hundred Dollar Bills springs to mind

Multiplayer update coming October 13th. May be delayed on PSVR though

And the next music pack is from BTS. What? You haven't heard of them? They're like, the greatest K-Pop boyband ever!

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Really gone downhill...

They're probably the biggest band in the world right now. By album sales in the US and by smashing the one-day Youtube record with 113m views. The majority of my students in Asia say they're their favourite band and they've been saying it for years.

But yeah, some middle-aged Irish guy with absolutely no idea of the global musical landscape derides them, so Beat Saber must obviously be going downhill. Maybe we need more Zeppelin to get the young folks interested in VR.

^^ I'm no fan of BTS but I couldn't agree with a post more. Every pack that's been announced has been slated in here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,281 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Well maybe I'm solo on this, but the original music is far better than the popular shyte they have been putting on it. Also, it's my opinion, not a global one. Didn't know opinions weren't allowed.

    - Limp Bizkit - Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)
    - Maroon 5 - Sugar

Sorry, I meant the songs. I recognise all the artists, but only recognise Don't Cha and Party Rock. I'm sure I'd recognise the others, but I wouldn't have known that's the name of them.

Edit: I gave a quick listen on the toobz, yeah, I recognise them but didn't know their names. Thought the One Republic one was saying Shooting Stars all along. Kendrick one I recognise from NBA 2K, just copped the Limp Bizkit one, so I know 3. I've heard that Moron 5 one before at some point, and similarily I now recognise the Gwen Sexyani one but wouldn't have know the name.
