    Hi all,

Looking for your help and advice. Me and a bunch of friends launched our CD the other night and reaction so far has been positive (even got a glowing review in The Examiner!). We were only considering a local release, but considering the reaction we've been getting and the quality (ahem) of the product, I've been considering a national release.

The stuff is all acapella, so it's a bit specialised, and it's a professional product. I was wondering if ye all could share your distribution experiences (I haven't released an album in almost ten years, so I have no idea about how to go about it now) and your recommendations for cd distributors?

Any help would be gratefully blah de blah etc. etc.

    Cheers me dears...

    Stay away from 'Record Services'
Whatever you do stay away from them.
Example : "we have an estimated 300 customers who will want to buy this single on the weekend of release, please put them in the following 12 stores in South Dublin so they can buy them". So... why send 200 CDs to Cork ? more to North Dublin and then not return phone calls or pay invoices.

    Ask yourself:
Why do you want to put CDs in shops ? Are people going into shops now trying to buy your CDs ? What is likely to change in the near future to make people go in to buy them ?
Are you gigging ? Are you selling them at gigs ? Do you have a website ? Selling them there ?
