Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Game anglers have been doing this for too long. Used to see them in blessington lake killing the jacks and big hens also. Found a massive skull up there before off a big hen that looked like it was caved in by heavy object.

no the nets are still going down. IFI are reviewing their pike policy, it was supposed to be finished by march, but we're still waiting.
Its not going to make much of a difference anyway, these idiots are going to keep killing pike no matter what the law says

I rarely fish and I have never fished on the Corrib but I live nearby and I know a little bit of about water resources. Pike are a natural part of the Corrib ecosystem - simple as that. However many trout fishermen are involved in the culling of pike on the Corrib. It's wrong but it's happening. I believe it will lead to an explosion of perch, roach and hybrids which will have a bigger impact on small trout.

Trout numbers are declining in the Corrib but it's due to environmental reasons.

On the flip side I have heard that some disgruntled pike fishermen have introduced pike to trout hatchery waters (e.g. Owenriff catchment) in Connemara. Very wrong.

It will not end well but there is no talking to either side.

If this thread is an example of the Muppetry that goes on I'm not surprised if lads don't drown each other. Absolutely bizarre behaviour and the thread is 4 pages of venom. Even down to slagging locals whom probably don't even involve themselves in your silly games .

The explosion of perch, roach and hybrids is well underway, to the point that the anti pike lads are calling for them to be netted now as well.

Wasn’t there an explosion in an invasive weed in the past while?

They are back at it again on Facebook. Promoting catch and kill competitions.

Make a comment that doesn't align to their views and your comment will be removed and you won't be able to view their pages again.

IFI need to step in soon or it's going to end up with someone getting hurt or worse.

I don’t think you have met many trout anglers from the corrib to say that ….
