Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm still looking ... see my post two above this one. I've been Googling away feverishly, but can't get a handle on what I should be looking for exactly. Many firms of accountants / tax advisors I've found seem to be heavily focussed on advertising the services they provide to corporate clients not private individuals. I know some of you on here think it's all pretty simple to do yourself, but despite having a scientific / engineering background, even looking at a tax form makes me break into a cold sweat, and it may as well be written in Chinese. I'd much prefer to get a professional to do it for me. So can anyone give any suggestions?

    Hello,

Looking for a firm that ideally does both audit and Tax planning. But, Tax planning is the priority (hence post in this forum).

The company is based in Limerick, but the audit/consultant firm doesn't necessarily need to be.

*EDIT* Thanks for the replies, should have enough to be going with for now. Thanks.

    - I am a PAYE employee - taxed at source
    - I have recently started putting money into a pension -can be done via payroll
    - I pay the creche for my son - No tax impact
    - I have health insurance with VHI - No tax impact
    - I recently started a night course which will last 10 weeks. No tax impact

From the above info you should not need to file a return. Any reason you think you should?

Crypto currencies do not pose a problem for any tax advisor. Any advisor worth their salt will know what to do with them.

The issue for accountants is placing a value on them at a particular point in time for the purposes of submitting financial statement in the CRO and also determining CGT/income tax liabilities. Some accountants may be reluctant to get involved in this type of work. There's also not much guidance from revenue so the accountants I know have given it a wide birth. Also, if it is a company and the accounts require an audit, some accountants will be reluctant to do this because it's not a recognised currency.

Looking for an accountant in the Dublin area who has experience in advising on working in media. I'm a freelancer working in film/TV and have been working freelance in Ireland since April 2017. I was under the threshold for VAT last year so am just getting registered for VAT number this year. Need advice on what I can claim against for this industry as well as setting myself up properly for the system here. I also need to get my 2017 income tax return settled.
I was based in Canada for the last 6 years so want to make sure I am not missing anything here.

You could never expect an accountant to do that. There are easier ways, all the exchanges have an export trade history function or an API. You can put that data into cointracker.info or similar and it will do a lot of the work for you.
Then give the accountant the output from that.

Hi – I am looking for some tax advice. Our family may be moving to Switzerland in the autumn for 3 to 4 years. While there we will be earning rental income in Ireland, my partner will be working for an Irish company but I will be working for a Swiss company.

Looking for a personal tax accountant in Cork city. Context is just reviewing tax submissions for last few years to make sure they are correct, and that I am handling it correctly. I have kids, sick parents, a very time demanding job, and tax gives me the fear. Having a professional to look it over and guide me would be ideal as otherwise I am worried I will miss something, and get overtaxed.

any advice on who to go to is very welcome!
