Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tips for conversational Irish.

I saw it mentioned on a thread (in a different forum) about how beneficial it can be for people learning Irish to have common/colloquial/idiomatic phrases for conversational speech. I thought this was a really good point, as I sometimes find myself at a loss for 'filler' (like in English, saying 'ah sure' or 'you know yourself' or 'I guess so'). My Irish wouldn't be the best, and so I'm not even sure if you can directly translate those phrases.

The other phrases the poster talked about were things like 'he's only acting the boll*x' and things like that.

I tried checking online and got the usual traditional phrases (like: may the road rise to greet you and the like) but I'm thinking of more modern phrases.

I think speaking a language is the way to go, and knowing some of these phrases would really help those of us with less-than-good Irish to improve our confidence. Any of you more fluent speakers care to suggest some helpful phrases/words/idioms?
