Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just watched Conor Dunne’s Donegal 555 challenge. Good show. Makes me want to cycle the roads but maybe over a week.

And so expertly filmed and directed.

i assume that's an extended version of what appeared on the main youtube channel several months back?

That was really an ad for Shimano Tiagra.
This is longer and more about Conor Dunne V 555. It includes interviews with The winner of the event Ron McLaughlin, a 62 year finisher, Conor's partner and some others. It highlights Conor's struggles on the event
Obviously the videography is stunning:D and there are some great drone shots.

just hit play on it. as the son of a donegal man, i am going to wince uncontrollably every time they say 'don-eh-gahl', i suspect.

Actually, they did well on pronunciations I thought. As someone who has done this as part of a team, it was a great watch. Bloody tough roads. As they say in the video, once you get beyond the east side of Inishowen, there is barely a flat piece of road.

yeah, i was pleasantly surprised in the end. though there was less of the support crew chat than in the original video IIRC, it was amusing reading the replies underneath that of non-irish people completely perplexed by their accents.

It would have been the same if the event was on the Beara Peninsula!

I watched it last night and really enjoyed it.

I watched another Conor Dunne one of a Waterford ride, the guy is seriously infectious with his enthusiasm , Bord failte should get him on a retainer. It would be great if he did a Wicklow ride and took in all the best spots

Just watched the Donegal 555 and really enjoyed it. Looks an unbelievably tough event though to cover that distance over those roads with the wind and rain.

Great pictures of Donegal, looked beautiful

Does anyone find their phone battery draining when using the app to watch a race or whatever? Going from 100% to 20% in 10 minutes.

Fine for me. Had Flanders on at weekend - about 3 hours headphones only whilst gardening and a couple of hours viewing on screen without issue. Doesn’t seem right to be draining that quickly. Could you try it with phone on low battery use mode to see if it makes a difference? Or maybe kill all other apps in case there’s something in background that is contributing?

Thanks, yeah ill have to do a bit of looking and see is something else the cause of it.

No. All good here. Still the odd little bug though and finding myself having to force stop the app if I exited out and wanted to rejoin a race later.

As far as I can see Eurosport still have an hours highlights scheduled for 10pm on ES 2 not sure about GCN+

Suisse wasn't there on firetv yesterday, but appeared to be on the Android app. I didn't try it as I couldn't be bothered finding the chromecast at that stage of the night!

Edit - shows as an option but not available when you click on it. RoI not listed, which is a bit mad.

Dan Lloyd tweeted yesterday that they don't have rights to Suisse in Ireland *shrugs shoulders*

Not working on Android but I'll try Windows and see

I've been able to get the short highlights for the TdS on the GCN+ app. It appears that that whoever was selling the rights isn't packing streaming with broadcast, strangely.

On neither Andriod nor Windows PC can I get anything other than 4-6 minutes of highlights each night, yet Eurosport are broadcastng one hours highlights every night. They are the same company..... why can't we get decent highlights on a premium app!

    Isn't it absolutely infuriating?
All the updates to the app that there have been and still this isn't fixed. I've contacted them a few times about this issue. I might as well be talking to the wall.

    It is brutal at times.

Tempted at this stage to go back to Eurosport player. Never a problem. And it would continue on from where you left off if you closed the app for a while.

You get that on the eurosport player too though. Or you did last time I had it before I let the sub end.

I won't pay for two subs, but pretty disappointed with Tour de Suisse being on Eurosport player and not GCN+. If that begins to happen regularly I'll be going back to eurosport player, as I've only watched a handful of the non-racing stuff on GCN.

Oh. I wasn't aware of that. When I was subscribed to ES Player I wasn't getting ad free.

You had to look for it - if you just clicked on the live streams of the channels it had adds. It was an option further down the page with the other stuff that wasn't live on the main channels.

can't log in seems very buggy lately...anyone else...is IlLombardia streaming on it ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 218 ✭✭The Buster

bit late replying to you know but no issues today or anytime in last few months

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,863 ✭✭✭✭crosstownk

I've had no issues with it recently. Every now and then the Apple TV drops the feed but I think that's more to do with my home network as it happens the odd time with other feeds/streams.

I have trouble with it, it won't cast from the laptop to the tv sometimes, when I cast then using 'cast desktop' it is lagging, and terrible quality. I can't scrub from the phone, if a race is on, you can only watch it at whatever point it's at, you can't rewind it, eg if you miss the start of a cx race, or if you want to pause for a few minutes, it won't start where you paused it, it will start wherever the race is-I'm seriously disappointed with it.

Working fine for me on FireTV, albeit I haven't been watching much live recently - watched the whole of Roubaix, over last weeks turbo sessions, without issue; Extended highlights of Lombardy and Paris-Tours this morning.
