Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lough Firrib wild camp

    Hi all,

    Has anyone wild camped on or around Lough Firrib in recent years. Obviously not looking at doing it soon due to weather/restrictions but hopefully once things improve in the next couple of months

    Yeah.....camped near there but........wouldn't be parking at Wicklow Gap or the likes.

    Thanks for that, parking wouldn’t be an issue, would be getting dropped off and picked up. Is the ground around the Lough suitable for a pitch, seems to be an area to the southwest of it that looks decent but having never been there I can’t tell.

    It can be quiet boggy and wet but you'd find a spot no probs. Time of year and weather conditions for the preceding few weeks would indicate to a degree what it'd be like/what to expect.
    "Three Lakes" area is always nice and swampy but......you'll get less people knocking around, zero rubbish etc etc.
    Nice area. It's always good to get away as far as poss. from the roads and drive in campers. :D

    I have done a few solo hike and camps to Lough Firrib. The ground around the Lough is always boggy to some degree but you will find areas where you can pitch a tent without difficulty.

    My favourite spot is at the southern end of the lake where you can tuck in beside a raised bank. 53.02922921437212, -6.435996661298197
