    For cities, I vote for Kiev too -- a beautiful place. But St Pete's not far behind.

    And Lake Baikal, of course. I've never seen a wilder place in any country.

    The better place of Russian speaking world for me is Laleli Block in Istanbul.Maybe Turks are speaking not too properly in Russian,but you could find a cheap hotel there(the City Centre) and enjoy exotical Istanbul,Bosphorus,Classis Hotel on the shore of the Marmara sea and all Turkey! :D

    Yeah,St.Pete is nice,but that's rediculous that 99% of tourists know only two destinations in Russia: Moscow and St.Pete. :)

    Hey can anyone tell me what St. Petersburg is like??

    like issit a nice area to live (i'll be living there for a year or so soon)?

    Are the people nice?

    Wat is the night life like?

    Public transport like etc. etc.??

    I also want to visit Sochi and kiev (know that it is in Ukraine but is a Russian speaking area)

    St.Pete is big and beatiful city.People are polite and intelligent(excluding scumbags).

    Public transport is perfect

    St Pete is splendidly eccentric, though I've latterly come to enjoy Kiev muchly too -- a bit less full of itself, and with equally good food + beer and without Piter's asshole militsia. I haven't been to Sochi, but I have been to Odessa and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    I've only ever been to Chisinau in Moldova but I really liked it. It was January, and the whole place was covered in snow with a very nice atmosphere. Hope to get to Kiev this year.

    My favourite place is Babruysk in Belarus. If you're a native Russian or familiar with Russian culture, you'll know what I'm talking about.

    I spent August and September last year in Kaliningrad and had a great time. Really like Volgograd as well. I was in Donetsk for a couple of days during the Euros and was impressed. And anywhere on the Crimean coast in May or September.

    Not a big fan of the big two (St. P and Moscow - too big, too noisy).
    I spent a short time in Bratsk many years ago and really liked it - perhaps it was all the trees.
    I am very fond of Latvia, which I know some would prefer was not Russian speaking, but it is, or certainly more than Ireland is Irish-speaking.

    Rostov on Don for the music scene, Taganrog for the student parties and Dombai as one of the most accessible and beautiful parts of the Caucasus.

    Black Sea shore is quite accessible and beautiful.

    Consider the Greater Sochy with warm and pleasant climate from May to September:sea,nature,mountains,canyons,jeeping,waterfalls,dolmens... :-)

    So far, Toronto, my hometown. My next favourite, among those places I've been to, is Israel. Anyone looking to practice Russian will likely be in paradise in the Holy Land (at least those parts administered by the Israeli Government).
