Hmm.... This question came up the other night when we were discussing famous speeches and i was wondering if anyone here can help me settle it.

When John F. Kennedy made that speech in West Berlin in the 60's and said "Ich bin ein berliner", did he really say it in such a way that it sounded like 'i am a donut/bagel/german sausage" or something? or is it just urban myth?

    Thanks !

A berliner is a type of doughnut thingie... I'm not sure if he said that I am a doughnut(mainly because I can't remember my German grammar etc) but i would imagine his speech writers/PR people wouldnt have allowed him to say it...

    But you never know....
