I am Marcel from Germany. I am 30 years old and want to rent the house for me, my 28 years old wife Melanie and our 10 years old son Alexander.
My Wife is looking for a Job as child carer and i work for <a multi-national corporation in customer support>.We would pay the rent on out own.

I am in Ireland since the 4th of March and my family joined me 2 weeks ago.

My company promissed me to help me finding a house/flat but they only paid some weeks in a bnb. Now we are living at a bnb but it is way to expensive. So in this case its really urgent.

We are running out of money, but i'll get my taxes and bonuses at the end of may.

Is there anybody who can help us in our emergency situation and rent us something for 4 weeks in advance ?

I know it's tough finding places, but 2 months?

Where are you located and what's your budget range for rent??

As a landlord I wouldn’t be concerned I’d appreciate that they are paying a premium for short term. They have a regular wage coming in

I think the OP means for excessive accommodation expenses rather than the ability to pay rent? He has a steady job.

I really feel for you, we're kind of in a similar situation ourselves. My advice is make sure you have a reference letter from your employer stating your role and where you work, and if you can try and get a letter in English from your old landlord in Germany, if you were renting there. You'll also need to be flexible, don't think you can just live where you want, look far and wide. For a 2 bed property in Dublin you will be looking at 1500-2000 euro rent at least, hopefully that's not too much more than half your take home pay. Daft.ie and MyHome.ie are the two biggest resources, so search on there.

Thread is pointless if the op doesn't respond. But unless this is some kind of specialised customer support role, I'm thinking he's gonna have trouble finding a place while supporting a family.

I don't know if the OP is aware how bad the state of the rental market is in Dublin. I have a vague idea how much money he makes and he will have a tough time supporting a family on one salary when renting.
Is the kid in school already in Ireland? You might want to consider expanding your search far and wide and have him changing school after the summer.
But to be fully honest with you, if your wife doesn't find work asap you might be better of returning to Germany because it simply is unaffordable living in Dublin or anywhere near it on their salary with a child (childcare costs in Ireland are another thing that is beyond insane).

If OP wants to, send me a PM and we can talk about it in German :pac:

You could just about struggle by on 45k, which I *hope* he is at least making. Once his wife is working they will be fine. The child is ten, so he will be in school, which is still free here isn't it?

The problem is less with what he makes than how utterly f*cked the rental market in Dublin is in general. As I said, the worst mistake you can make is thinking you have any sort of control over where you stay. Sometimes I wonder why we moved back... but sure once we have our own place it will be fine.

School is free but it could well be that the kid needs some kind of supervision depending on the parents hours and that's expensive. Also the public transport situation only really allows the kid to go to a school close by which is another topic in itself.

I have a pretty good idea in what sort of job he's working and that he's most likely not getting the salary you stated. Some of the big multinationals have their tactics to lure people from abroad over into "amazing opportunities", give them horrible contracts and let them more or less down on accommodation. A lot of people don't have an idea how bad the situation is. When I moved over, and I have an Irish partner, I had the luxury to turn that "wonderful opportunity" down, but people like the OP don't really.
I genuinely hope that is not the case for him.

I think Wilfred has left the building

I think Wilfred may have been hoping for some financial assistance.

Move back to Germany for the good of your family.

Shame on these companies giving a guy from a different country the impression he could move his family here on average wage. He's put into an awful position.

He knows what a PM is, believe me.
But may not know the Irish word "scrounge" ;-) 'nuff said.

Hey its real hard to get a place. Get a ref from previous landlord..register pps no... Get work to give you letter stating you job term and salary.

Just keep lookong and viewing houses till you get something.

Ask for deal from bnb as your not a weekend trip ppl...you want discount as your using them alot.

If your stuck give me a shout i have spare room

My reading of the post is that he's looking for somewhere that will take the first month in arrears and possibly no deposit as his money won't come through until the end of May?

Sorry OP there's absolutely no chance of that.

OP must have got sorted since he is not replying here....

99% of the jobs being advertised in Germany for working in Ireland are minimum wage call centre jobs. It's grand for a single who wants to have fun for a year and then moved back home.
I met many Germans in Dublin over the years. The majority of them have moved back home after a short while for various reasons.

However if I relocate with my whole family then I have to do my homework beforehand. There is plenty of information available on the Internet in both German and English so there should be no surprises. Sounds harsh but it's reality.
