Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Screwfix "Warranty"

Do Screwfix give the same manufacturer's warranty time as buying the same item in a normal trader's, and do they take back the item if it fails within this warranty period?, for example one can buy central heating circulating pumps at around 30% cheaper than from a heating&Plumbing shop. If the pump breaks down within the warranty period then one would normally return it to the shop, how does screwfix deal with these issues.?

Probably found my answer in their terms&conditions:

    7. Manufacturer's Warranties & Guarantees

7.1 Some of our goods are sold with a manufacturer's warranty, guarantee or similar assurance (please see the relevant product description on our website for further details). Any complaint, query or claim under a manufacturer's warranty, guarantee or similar assurance must be made direct to the manufacturer and we do not have any responsibility or liability under or in connection with any such warranty, guarantee or assurance.

It depends on if you are buying as a consumer, where you have full protection of the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, or if you are buying as a tradesperson, then you have very little rights.

Bought a drill from screwfix less than 5 months ago it’s now not working. Contacted screwfix who said to return the item their courier would collect it, this was 10 days ago they still haven’t collected. I wanted a replacement but they will only refund to Irish customers but will offer repair replacement or refund to UK customers. Is this correct under consumer law. The drill is now significantly more expensive on their site.

Perfectly legal to only offer refund
