    interesting.
It shouldn't last though as the airport at 162mtrs asl is reporting rain and a 1c dewpoint.

Meanwhile in my own area dewpoint is inexorably heading towards zero in what is now a very strong breeze off the sea. It's bending the tops of the hedge so probably around 20 to 25mph.
Sleet in Cork which I'm surprised at though I am on highground.
That's a good sign for rest of ye!

    Still sleet here.
I'll be apologising to Evelyn if South of Galway sees snow, which must be likely if im seeing sleet

by sleet do you mean bits of snowflakes? or icy bits breaking up on a window? The latter would be recorded as rain.

    http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/EICK/2010/2/23/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA

As you can see the humans up in the tower at above 550ft asl at cork airport which is a lot higher than any part of the city are reporting rain.

Cloudy frosty morning here, the air has that eerie feel of an impending doom of devastating proportions about it - it'd make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up in terror. I think this really could be snowmageddon to end all snowmageddons; that'll be recorded in our folk lore for centuries to come as the night of the white terror.

Good to hear there has been some snow in Cork already.

    Is it sticking?
It might last a while as you have a land breeze.
Due East are mountains in waterford which help to keep the north cork dp's down prior to the full and final mixing.

Any idea of your dewpoint there?

too warm here for snow, up to 2.0 and rising . . .

temp up again but dp going down, what's going on there????

It's not about the temp of the air.
It's about the dewpoint and thats well below zero in your area.
As long as it stays in or about -1c-you are likely to see at least some transitory wet snow.

This is the hi res NMM for 7pm for france but includes south east ireland too.

My home is between the 0 and l in the word locale.

You can just make out the dashed outline of south east ireland.
I have found this chart to be very on the money.

Shows wintryness of some description so i shall bank

Amber warning for Northern Ireland from the UKMO:

There is a high risk of a severe weather event affecting Northern Ireland and parts of northern England. There is the potential for heavy snow to give significant accumulations, especially over high ground. There is likely to be significant disruption to travel networks, particularly over higher level routes.

Snow will gradually turn back to rain from the south later Wednesday.

Sleety rain for Arklow most likely.
