Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm trying to add a family member in ireland and it is saying that she's ina different countfy so it won't let her join. Any help is appreciated.
Also anyone added people that are abroad somewhere in Europe

Yeah it worked for me this week added another member to my family and it worked without issue. I think you need to make sure they don't have a payment card or sub for say google drive tied to their Gmail address you are adding. But that's just me guessing

When I log into my account google account, and try and purchase additional storage, regardless of which country I have selected on my vpn, the google prices are staying in Euro for me

Have you already set up the subscription or is this beforehand?

You can try getting them to delete any payment cards they have against their account, so it doesn't see them as tied to their current country. It really wants you to be in the same country to be a Family, but it seems it does that by seeing where the payment card billing address is, and you can't, I believe, add a different country from the one you are in unless your use a VPN.
It's, er, how the whole hack works.

So, first thing's first, get them to delete any payment cards on their account and get them to try the invite again.

Just set up a family premium account using Argentina as for some reason when connected to India via my VPN (Express VPN) it kept wanting to charge me in UAE Dirham!!

6 family members for 179 Argentinian Peso's works out at €1.75 per month or €0.30 per head.

    Thanks OP!!

FYI I used the Irish Embassy in Buenos Aires as my billing address :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,576 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

The irony being the OP wanted to share an Irish membership.......

I used some interesting NGO address in BA, amazing what Google will find you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,674 ✭✭✭Sup08

Just changed to India and now works out at 2.13 a month for Family membership. My VPN didn't have Argentina as an option so just went with India as the cheapest available.

Got the Deezer deal here a few years ago and I need an option for when my card expires. When my current card expires, Deezer requires my new card to be from the same location as the account.

Back then Deezer became aware of this VPN account creation, as so many people put in requests to change there account to Irish when they bought the 2 years in advance. They refunded anyone that made the query and closed their Turkish account forcing them to sign up on Irish accounts if they wanted one.

    Thanks OP
Turkey on Express vpn is showing euro. India is showing as United Emirates. Argentina however worked perfectly. Got a month free trial and then less than 2 euro per month for family membership. To think that for 2 euro per month I'll have no more pesky ads

Just so you are aware the 149 ARS plan is the Youtube Music Family plan - doesn't include ad-free Youtube Videos. I've updated the table:-

Any resolution on adding family members outside Ireland? Two of my kids are getting the error about being in a different country to me. Neither have cards attached to their account.

I set this up a few years ago, dunno if it's since changed - but I had to have them added to my family before I set up the Indian account.

You can cancel your current India account and also kick out your family members.
Get a new "burner" gmail account, invite family or whoever then off to India again.

On your devices you can add the burner account as a secondary account and everything premium plays happily

Just Wondering ? What's the difference here ......?
I got banned from boards years ago for daring to say you could get Sky Sports, Movies etc free on mobdro. The reason being, I was being dishonest, stealing etc Yet lying about your country etc is fair game. I don't mind a bit but I am aiming this question at the mods.
Any Mod care to address this ? Dishonesty being the key word ?
Ps I was banned for a month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,576 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

Using an illegal service like you mention is illegal and you're effectively paying for stolen material.
YouTube are taking money for the service they own and provide.

There’s a bit of a difference between posting about blatant illegal streaming and legally (if not a bit morally wrong) paying for a service.

But you are stealing by lying about your country. You Tube should be getting x a month for your content, but lying you are getting it for y. Are you not stealing from Ytube by lying. I think you are splitting hairs here to suit your own agenda.
    Are you a Mod ?

You are streaming illegally by giving false info, No ? Is stealing just morally wrong and not theft ? I am just being pedantic here just because you seem to write the rules to suit your argument. Is stealing a bar of chocolate stealing or morally wrong ?

Thanks guys. I'm just at the stage of setting up the family group. I haven't used the VPN to sign up to YouTube yet. It won't let them into the family group as they're not in Ireland.

I'll get them to try again next time they're back here.

Most People likely wouldn't pay the 17.99 family plan but if you can get it for 2 euro it's worthwhile. So youtube are up money in the end.

That like dipping someones pocket and just stealing 5 euro instead of the 25 euro that was there. By your logic they are still up 20euro because you didn't steal the lot ?? Really !

    Thanks OP.

Super bargain and as mentioned already, it will be hard to top that in 2021!

I signed up for a single account as i'm the only person that really watches it at home. Other than the kids but i dont want them having free reign on YT at their age.

Is it easy enough to upgrade to a family account later or messy?

Also, not only has the OP opened YT Premium to me, but this thread has forced me into trying a VPN which ive been putting off for ages, so thank you.

No to the Netflix thread :D

Hi all. Just a quick bit of what i found out to set family members to share subscritpion.
    Ireland:
I set up a family member before signing off, no problem.
Also added an Irish member after and there seems to be no issues there.
    Abroad:
after subscription i had to create new gmail accounts myself, add as family members in google, accept and then pass on login details and or the actual gmail account.
I hope this helps someone who needs it

Something is wrong there. I set up a "family" for a friend a few weeks ago. One of the family lives in France.

Has that gmail been used for a family before? Or is the person abroad accepting the link as required (you will get a success notice from Google.

I would start again with a burner gmail account.

YouTube Premium Family package is €17.99/month for 5 members. That works out to €43.20 each a year. Anyone want to join my 'family'?

Btw anyone managed to do the same trick with Netflix? Can get the Turkish sign up page but not passed the payment screen.

I went Argentina myself, thanks to the Irish Embassy!

There are a good few people that signed up with families from here (me included), and I think they went the Turkish route.
You'll have to search out one of those threads and find a family leader how they did it.

    Unless they stumble in here.

Actually, that'd be an idea for a sticky. One thread with information on how to access Tidal, Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, Disney+, etc.

    Certainly not the burner gmail.

The french member added to this without a hitch, though we did have to ring and talk here through the acceptance prompts.

Never underestimate how untechy some people are.

Been tried before with other things and every page you'll get a "I don't have time to read posts so tell me what to do" which got frustrating. A clear OP works with each offer as issues to do with that offer fill the thread.
