Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If husband and wife were out of work at same time do they both get job seekers allowence. Assuming both worked for last ten years i assume they would be entitled to it for the irst nine months but azsuming they wwere long term unemployed do the get assesed after nine months ? Is there a limit a couple can claim eventhough each claim is seperate. Assuming they dont have a lot of savings how much would they each receive. Any ideas about this. Thanks

You get assessed if you have over €20k after 9 months, you have to provide bank statements going back 6 months.

If you are both out of work and not entitled to JSB and you have no kids no other income and no savings in excess of €20000 then your JSA family rate is:
    €203+
    €134.70=
    €337.70

Didn't know that so if for example my wife gets made redundant depending on what I'm earning she won't be eligible for jsa regardless because we are over the threshold

If your wife is made redundant and she has enough PRSI contributions on her record then she will get JSB for at least 6 months irregardless of what you are earning.

If one person claims, do they both still get credits, (for there pension in later life) or should both claim half family rate to both get credits?
