People are getting ripped off left right and centre. If it hits sales in Thurles town then maybe they'll reduce their prices.

Well make sure you have your insurance sorted. If someone gets (or claims to get) a dose of the trots after your coffee, or burns themself making it, sure you'll have a grand oul claim against you.

A lioness actually cost a lot more to run than a bean/ground coffee machine. You can buy bean/ground coffee in Lidl and Aldi for under €2. 150g bag of Nescafe is currently €6 -€7. The markup they are making on this coffee must be huge. The two Costcutters in Thurles had Lionesses and were €1.30 A cup. They now have hipster coffee and are charging €2.40 a cup.

Do Musgraves dictate the retail price?

I’m a fussy coffee drinker and usually steer well clear of petrol station coffee. I’m okay with Frank & Honest though

Which is all R'nH is. Mini supermarket automatic machine made take out convenience store, coffee, dressed up in a marketing department word image, conjuring up notions of integrity, credibilty, worthiness. It's still the same old soup but with the machine moved from the end of the biscuit aisle to the carefully groomed deli counter. You could do the same with an 89c centra/ londis/supervalu generic sliced pan. Give it it's own concept, say, "The Miller's Choice" or "The Harvest Bread Company", (adding the word 'Company' is a common branding trick). Put said cheap pans in a bespoke rustic display rack, and watch the suckers paying €2-€3 a go. This is how you turn an everyday commodity or staple into a desirable perception. You'll even convince yourself it's on a par with premium product from a specialist vendor, because of it's doubled price and alluring makeover. It's not. It should be branded CashCow Coffee.

worst i got was from a lidl coffee dispenser.

price was 1 euro, volume was maybe 5 ounces? But the taste made the liffey water seem good in comparison. so to anyone who hates frank an honest, try lidl coffee - it will seem much more palatable in the aftermath.

But do yourself a favour and get a packet of gum 1st!

OP has a point

Supervalu's Frank & Honest machine churns out an self-service Americano in a paper cup for 2.70 while you can have a proper sit down Americano in the Douglas and Kaldi just across the street for 2.50.

Not a great business model.

High pressure hot water through the ground beans, really a double espresso, just with a longer cycle of hot water. It will begin to go from very dark brown to lighter towards the end. Stop it at the point you desire.
What I seen looked like a shot of syrup, flow stopped, then a a long shot of hot water. The MiWadi of Coffee.

Rosa is good. One thing that bothers me. Why no milk sachets? Sometimes only a manky jug. If you're buying for 2+, it's impossible to judge others' milk requirements, and especially a tea, where you want the teabag to brew for a while. At least Macs and Burger King have sachets.

Some BKs seem to have adjusted beverage price up to match the expensive price of the connected shop. MACS otoh, still charge €2 in the common service forecourts on the M6 Circle K near Athlone, and on the M9 one at Kilcullen. Value! and sachets.

2:70 now for a regular frank and honest and it still tastes as bad as the first day it came out. Before this shower came along everywhere, EVERYWHERE charged a max of €2 a cup. Insomnia was a far superior coffee for €1.80.

If they charge me 2.20 -> 2.70 for coffee, i will get what i pay for - not the coffee flavoured water they put out....

Because UHT milk (generally, not universally) tastes awful (super sweet) to Irish palates and as a result most people massively prefer using fresh.

Fresh, from a cruddy dribbly luke warm jug that's topped up in perpetuam. Ugh.
