Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was quite surprised to see them close? Always seemed to be doing a strong trade with at least 50 or so new Nissans parked in their yard and one of the biggest Nissan garages in the south east. What happened? Is the weak sterling again pushing a shake out of dealers?

Says Nissan ireland terminated the relationship for whatever reason

Looking at the accounts, it's surprising they lasted til now with a net asset deficit of over €1.2 million.

Their fuel and food court business in tullow is thriving with net assets of over €1.7m

If it was me, I'd have closed the carlow business long ago.

They spent a fortune on an ivory tower during the boom (like so many). The Tullow facility is years old and likely owned since the year dot. Wonder who will take on Nissan in Carlow? Must be one of the top sellers there

They were given an ultimatum by Nissan at the time, move to a new premises in Carlow, or lose the franchise.

They lost both a great service manager and a great tech to another garage in the last couple of years, the difference that can make to the service side of a dealership is huge and these days the service sector is what’s making money in motor trade.

As Cianryan said, loosing good service dept staff can have a detrimental affect on how a garage runs. Everybody thinks it's sales that keep a garage running, maybe in January & July but the rest of the year it's after sales that keep it afloat.

Nissan ultimately pulled the plug. It will reopen in the new year with a different owner at the helm, one thar has an excellent track record with Nissan.

Apart from staff losing jobs, it's probably the best thing. Pandering to the whims of manufacturers, between sales targets and continual battles over warranty. Running a Dealership is sometimes not worth the hassle !

    Who will take it over?
