Translation of 'I think so'

    Just wondering how this would be said in general conversation. Have come up with 'ceapaim go bhfuil' but think that means 'I think that' moreso. Also thought 'ceapaim gurb amhlaidh é' but that seems quite long-winded. Any help would be appreciated.

    Not sure about Connacht's 'measaim', because 'measaim é' sounds wrong. More like 'measaim go bhfuil' or whatever verb & tense previously used.

    It depends on the context, as ever, but something along the lines of 'is dóigh liom é', 'ceapaim/cheapfainn é'. (You hear the conditional used a lot in Irish where you mightn't in English). You're right that "ceapaim go bhfuil" is "i think that...".

    Ceapaim or measaim alone are enough. "Go bhfuil" needs a subject (I think that's the word?). The implication is there with either ceapaim or measaim alone.

    "An gcuirfidh sé síos inniu?" "ceapaim" - not right - cuirfidh or "ceapaim go gcuirfidh" / "cheapfainn é" / "is dóigh liom é"
    "An bhfuil an mála sin trom?" "ceapaim go bhfuil" - grand, but plain old 'ceapaim' would be weird to me...

    An bhfuil dul amú orm?

    Nah tá 'n cheart agat. Botún a bhí ann. Oibríonn "ceapann" ní "ceapaim" mar a dúradh. Oibríonn cheapfainn é freisin.
