    After doing a couple of workouts (disclaimer: I was on a 5k training plan for a week already before this TT popped up) I want to change my target time to 20:00, albeit with an asterisk.

    Why the asterisk, you ask? Because I'm planning on running this on a treadmill and a) I cannot guarantee how accurate my footpod is and b) I'm pretty sure 5k race pace on a treadmill is easier than 5k race pace on the road.

    I take it we're applying the plus 4% rule to any fancy b0llix wearing CheaterShoes. So a 20 minute run would be (gimme a couple a mins here).............. 20.48 if my maths (and Google) are right.

    My daughters, all 3 of 'em, would quickly tell me where to go and how to get there if I so much as asked, the young fella on the other hand..... Boys are so much easier *sigh*.

    I'm rethinking his role exshelly. I might ask him now to do a li'll video of the start, maybe the turn around (he can cycle ahead of me) and the finish.

    What about it folks? If you have children (or a partner......) you can easily and cheaply bribe we could have video evidence in the case of reclamations and disputes. Or just to record our superb 5k efforts for posterity.

    I was thinking about this on a run during the week. If we ever do this again, we could add a points race.

    Everyone predicts their time. If you run to your predicted time bang on or +/- an agreed amount of seconds you get 0 points. Every second you run quicker than predicted time you get a 2 point penalty and every second over a 1 point penalty. Lowest amount of points scored the better.

    Probably lots of flaws in such an idea.

    First speed session in months today. Went for a pyramid 200/400/600/800/1000 and back down again. Two things (that I already knew) became apparent: one, pushing yourself on your own is hard; two, I'm nowhere near 20:00 shape so definitely not sandbagging here. Bring on next Saturday! :)

    I've entered a predicted time 2 secs faster than my pb from last December.

    Do feel in shape to do it, but certainly not sandbagging.

    Never got the point of sandbagging tbh. Is it people not wanting to look foolish or what? Who cares?

    Maybe it is. I haven’t entered a prediction because I genuinely don’t know what to enter.

    Untested fitness x (Hilly course + TT format - race day adrenaline ) = ???

    As Murph has already stated C, some people genuinely don’t know what kind of shape they are in having not raced in a while. But you have the sandbaggers like healy1835 who ran sub 17 few weeks back but reckons 17.05 is his limit.......
