Has anyone here successfully grown their own tobacco?

I'd like to try this as a hobby. I don't smoke myself, but I know people who do. I think homegrown tobacco would be a cool idea. I make my own homebrew. Obviosuly I'd be tax compliant and report to revenue. If it's illegal full stop then I won't grow.

There are old tobacco drying sheds in some farms in East Cork so it can grow here.

Not that that really answers your question.
