Anyone see the video of Trump refusing to let Dr Fauci answer the question on Hydroxychloroquin? It's quite disturbing and Trump knows full well what the answer will be by Dr Fauci and goes against his narrative....

What I would like done is for reporters to visit/contact the O/C of the Naval Force [the boss just down the corridor] and ask him one single question:did the Captain meet with him and discuss the outbreak of the virus on the carrier before he sent off the offending letter/email. If the boss fails to answer that one question, publicize that fact.

If he confirms that the Captain did meet and discuss the virus outbreak with him before he sent off the letter/email, publicize that fact. Let the facts fall as they are and show who are the truth-tellers.

But from what I see here, people are saying it's getting worse. Is that really the case?

From the clips I saw this morning of it, his main thing last night was talking over the reporters and asking them why don't they ever ask their questions in a more positive way, like "Your administration is doing a great job so far getting ventilators and PPE to the hospitals, but will this be increasing?"

There was also a female Asian reporter there from a newspaper in Hong Kong who when she tried asking a question, he repeatedly asked her does she work for China and is the newspaper she works for owned by the State (it isn't).

So hard to say whether it was better or worse than any of his previous briefings recently.

He seemed highly agitated, like he was on a stimulant..... dr. Brix answered a question and was so calm in contrast... then Trump resumed and was full of vitriol... I keep watching expecting he is going to go completely over the edge

I've watched a few now this week after giving them a break.

They are definitely getting worse.

He's overstepping the mark more than normal and appearing way more unhinged.

Several times last night it seemed like he was gonna lose it.

I think when Florida and Louisiana start to really motor along we'll see the meltdown.

So if we believe the BS line that Trump was distracted by the impeachment, we now know his economic advisor presented a stark apocalyptic warning. If Trump was too distracted to act about the virus, then that speaks more to his mental fragility and lack of discipline and moreover ability to lead than anything else.

This right here should be enough to see Trump removed from office for gross dereliction of duty. To be presented that by someone in his own circle, with the knowledge of what was happening in China and other countries and fail to take any steps (beyond of course stopping direct flights from China but allowing 40k+ to still enter the country) is appalling

That is why this is on his hands now. He was given the info, but felt he knew better and not only bet his own life but the lives of those he is sworn to protect.

If nothing else, those memos should be aggressively pursued in the next press conference(s). Any attempt at deflection should be followed up by the next reporter.

They should be, but we both know they won't.

Instead of trying to pursue him, IMO the better line would be to play to his narcissism. Something like "Navaro made some terribly wild claims that through you actions have proven to be completely unfounded. What did you know then that Navarro didn't know?"

Or "Navarros memos paints quite a disturbing possibility, which clearly your actions on stopping China flights and getting PPE and ventilators have greatly reduced. Given how great you input was, do you have any regrets that you didn't act sooner and possibly save even more lives"

Is it worth lying to him, and appeasing his desire for validation, in an attempt to get him to say he has a regret? He'll simply ignore the second half of the question if past performance is anything to go by.

The House committee on appropriations can ask for info, as the funding was arranged in a bipartisan-ship deal between both parties in congress and senate. It may put Mitch in a bind having to figure out how to explain why Don felt it necessary to remove the one person who could be called to either/both chambers to provide details of how the funding was being used. Don is deliberately trying to pick a row to divert attention from the mess he's created and appear as a hero being hassled by congress over how he's using the funding.

True, that is certainly the risk. But the other option, that of a proper question, gets nowhere either and hasn't for 3+ years.

So either they bank together to follow the 'keep banging the same drum' technique or they try something else.

IMO, the same drum will only lead to Trump saying he has answered and refusing to answer again.

The US Executive/Legislative model of Government is really an absolute disaster.
The lack of actual accountability other than term limits or ballot box is leading to ever more fractious and confrontational politics.

The US has a reckoning to face regarding its political system.

That someone can run for, and win the highest office in the land with zero practical political experience is baffling.
Even the bloody Roman Republic tried to avoid incompetence rising to the top with the cursus honorum.

That the Presidency is something to be won by brash display, rather than a path of proven public service is astonishing.

TBF, I don't think they foresaw the massive explosion in the size of the country to the extent that it is now, coupled with the fact that they also didn't foresee that those leading the country wouldn't change the constitution as needed and not see it as a living document.

One thing that the Trump administration has shown is that if you're brazen enough, you can get away with anything, purely down to the fact that it takes so long for the courts to make any decisions on litigation. Dragging stuff out through the courts for months and months has become their speciality.

So since he fired the guy in charge overseeing the corona virus relief money should we go ahead and assume corruption? Cos that needs independent oversight and someone appointed by Trump isn't independent. Especially when they know they can just be fired.

Like really. People should just be allowed to move to the States and have no one be allowed check their work visas. Then they have to be let stay as they won't be able to prove if they are there illegally!!! Same thing. No oversight on the budget is like simply not checking work visas for immigration.
