So, with the Covid-19 situation developing and changing by the day, if not the hour and people strongly advised to practice “social distancing” (i.e. maintain a distance, where possible, of 2 metres apart)...

....should this forum be advising members not to go to bars and clubs over the next few weeks and to avoid “hookups” from apps like Grindr, Tinder and Scruff?

It seems like a very sensible precaution to take.

Well, it's probably good advice be you gay, bi or straight not to go on random hookups during this crisis. If someone has coronavirus, there's no amount of safe sex practice, condoms, PrEP or anything else going to prevent you getting it. A kiss, holding hands etc could do it.

I mean you could quite literally get this from just platonically bear hugging a mate in the pub.

It's stressful, sad and probably very difficult, as it's potentially going to mean a lot of loss of physical contact which is very important to humans, but that's where we are right now.

All any of us can do is hope a vaccine arrives sooner rather than later and in the meantime, there are breakthroughs that prevent lung damage.

We're in Florence Nightingale battle field nursing mode at the moment as medicine has no drugs or tools to treat it.

    Surreal times.

Well since you posted OP pubs have been directed to close from tomorrow.

I overhead an adviser on TV say not to have 'Covid-19 parties'. He didn't specify what kind of parties.

    Yes

It seems crazy the amount of people still using all lots of apps looking for sex right now.

I have put up a new thread on all things Covid 19/LGBT related

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

People in general, gay or straight, don't give a fúck about staying away from each other.

I'm trying to walk as far away from people as possible, but they come straight for you ...

I'm going to print me a tshirt saying "just back from Spain"

It’s not just LGBT people. Straight side of tinder seems very busy.

Even just getting snuggly and a few kisses is enough for this one.

We’re living through weird times but the more seriously we take this the shorter those times might be and the sooner we can get back to some human contact again. So try not to feck it up for everyone.

Never said it was just lgbt people though

In a time when ppl are self isolating it seems completely logical to me that participation on online apps will increase significantly. To conclude that this means that increased traffic on apps means ppl are intending on hooking up more than usual seems an illogical conclusion to me. It's boredom more than anything else.

Actually just came to the forum to ask this question.
In terms of gay males you are obviously exposed to all sorts of bodily fluids during a hookup so it’s a no go for the time being
I guess pornhub will have to do😂

I was wondering this myself. Our neighbours are a lovely bunch of gay lads, with a very active social life, but the last few weeks there's been the usual steady stream of random lads coming and going in taxis.. Definitely not mates as they tend to hang outside checking the house numbers before going in! I think they're mad to be ignoring the advice. They're 3 professionals in their 30s so not exactly young and foolish. I wouldn't say anything now as I'm fond of them but I haven't been hanging around the fence for a chat as usual I'll put it that way...

While not wanting to judge there are plenty of people out there straight and gay who like taking risks when it comes sex. Over the years (I'm mid 50's) I've witnessed a lot of sexual recklessness where intelligence accounted for little even when something like AIDS still came with a death sentence so I doubt COVID-19 is going to stop some people from having a good time. I was wondering today if prostitution is taking a hit at the moment, it probably is but some will still take the risk.

I think what makes me upset is that I don't give a crap what others of any sexuality get up to on a day to day basis. When it means we are home from work because school is closed and the lack of a collective effort is threatening everyone else I do have an issue. They'd a massive party last night and are currently all sitting out the back having a great laugh. I acknowledge this isn't an LGBT issue anyway. It's just an idiot issue.
