    Hello all,

We're teaming up with Qwertee to put out an official Boards.ie t-shirt in time for Christmas and we want one of our members to design it. So we'd like you to get your art caps on and put together a t-shirt that you think best describes Boards.ie.

There are some guidelines for the picture which Robert from Qwertee has provided (and he'll be paying attention to this thread to answer any questions).
Guidelines for creating a mockup for the Boards/Qwertee T-Shirt Design

    How Screen Printing Works:

You can have a read of this basic introduction here: http://tinyurl.com/csn6x7 What you need to remember is that Screen Printing works by using blocks of colour, each colour is put down as a separate layer. So your design can only contain up to 5 or 6 solid colours. Something like a photo wont work, it has too many colours, shades etc. When we go to print the winning design we'll need the artwork to be in Vector (AI, EPS) format or Photoshop (PSD) with the different colours separated. You can have a look at some of the previous tees printed on Qwertee for examples of the type of designs that are well suited to screen printing: http://www.qwertee.com/product/view/recent/

    Basic Rules:
In general designs are limited to 5 colours on dark shirts and 6 colours on light shirts (not including the shirt colour itself) and a maximum print size of 40 x 30cm ( 15.75 x 12 inches). We are not able to do all over prints or front and back prints. Please see the guideline pic for how big the maximum print size can be on a shirt.

In order to see what your design will look like when printed on a tee we'd ask you to create a mockup, this is just like what you see on the Qwertee homepage every day (that's right it's not an actual photo of the model in that day's shirt, it's a clever mockup of how the design will look when printed!)

The easiest way to create a mockup is using http://www.shirtmockup.com/. Just enter your shirt colour using the hex codes below to match our available tees:
    • Black: #000000
    • White: #FFFFFF
    • Grey: #4e4949
    • Navy: #011d38
    • Royal Blue: #006caa
    • Light Blue: #a6cae8
    • Red: #bc2525
    • Green:#688e47
    • Brown: #563c2f
Then drop on your design and create the mockup!

Alternatively if you have Photoshop you can use our mockup kit (with instructions attached) to create a slightly more pro looking version.

    Hope this helps!
So we have 1 week to get a design ready and picked, the winner will be picked by Nicola, Niamh and I here in the office. 1st place will get a lifetime subscription to Boards as well as 5 of the winning t-shirt to keep or give as gifts, or whatever, it'll be up to you. We'll also be randomly awarding subscriptions to people who's submissions either made us laugh a lot or we thought were really cool.

The winning t-shirt will be on sale for one week only (at Qwertee's usual super cheap €10 + €1.50 postage) and €1 from each t-shirt sold will go towards this year's Santa Strike Force fund.

    Best of luck everyone!
