My parents both pay PRSI / PAYE to the tune of 42% of their income a year, their money is my money thus Im losing a large chunk of my potential income to taxes of which a sizable amount will be spent on unworthy causes. And I have paid capital gains tax myself too, yes.

Ill give into public opinion and stop posting after this, however I do feel that I should mention how ironic I find it that the only way you people can seem to accept different views from yours amounts to calling them 'mentally retarded' or a fascist. For a group of people that demands acceptance of differences in all places perhaps this shows something?

Time to appoint a Moderator ?..

I second Mr Bonds nomination of : Dawntreader* for Mod. I know better than to disagree with someone with a name like that!.

So, Dawntreader draws the short* straw.

I have sent a PM to DeVore regarding this board & the lack of a moderator.

I await his reply with interest!

You dont need to PM me (though I appreciate that you did). I'm sometimes like those all powerful aliens in SciFi series who *could* intervene but have a policy of not doing so...
Im arguing for the taking away of a costly and unbenefical security net that will damage a small minority's lives.

Unfortunately (for you) you live in a community where the vast majority of people do not agree with you and ARE willing to have money deducted from their wages to support people with disabilities.

I dont drive but my taxes go to support your (or your fathers) car. I dont smoke but my taxes go to pay for extremely costly procedures to save smokers lives.
I went to college and my fees were mostly paid for by the state.

We (the Irish) are a community and as a community we (the healthy, workers) support the weak, the infirm, the young, the student, the old etc. Yes we pay a disproportionate amount more and recieve less. Though when it is OUR time to be sick, or disabled, or old, or a student (which I'm guessing you are or have been).... we'll be glad we live in such a society.

I for one wouldnt have it any other way.

So you arent working? Are you a student?

You believe Ireland should be a more capitalist society. I wouldnt ban you for expressing such a view though I find it distastful myself.

Personally I like the socialist leanings of the Irish system. You are free to completely disassociate yourself from such a system by moving to somewhere where the community has rules more to your liking. You can even stay here and try and convince other people of your beliefs...

Like I said at the start... care, beyond supporting our genetic material to survive, is something that sets man apart from most animals imho.
