Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pressure washer 300-400

    Hi,

    Any recommendations on a pressure washer for small domestic use in the above price range. For domestic use cleaning patio around the house etc. Was looking at the Karcher K5 on Woodies at 300 but see mixed enough reviews with them breaking. Would anyone have any other good recommendations at this price point? Looking for decent enough power and good reliability. Suggestions appreciated.

    The Nilfisk range is quite good.
    I have a C110 that does sterling service and was picked up for @100 with an accessory kit from Amazon. Aluminium pump housing and generally good quality.

    Previously had a parkside, that had better hose storage(had a reel) but I'd rate the Nilfisk as better.

    For normal domestic use, ie patios, gutters, drain clearing and the like, there's no real need to spend quite so much IMO.

    Nilfisk E145 if you want something in the same ballpark as a K5

    A C110 or C120 will happily do most household tasks for half the money.

    Karcher ain't what they use to be...

    The pumps are platic where as nilfisk use metal....

    I'd definitely second nilfisk.

    Another vote for nilfisk what ever price range you feel like spending they're a good machine.

    400 will get you into a Kranzle, you won't get better in terms of quality.

    A lot of votes for Nilfisk it sounds like a better deal than the Karcher. Anywhere in Ireland or recommend to look at the Kranzle?

    Amazon.de is pretty competitive as well. They seem to be getting cheaper but they are a unreal washer for less than 500 euro. There is no comparison with all these washers from 100 to 350 or so. Granted you will get a few years out of them but you will be buying the same stuff again in a few years. I have a kranzle for over 25 years that worked on a farm and still going strong. A new hose was all that was required in all that time but the washer was around 700 pounds or so back in the day.

    Washers are pretty much all Kranzle does, they are very high quality pumps.
    Hard to beat good marketing though and thats why Karcher have such a big following.

    Yeah think I might look at a Kranzle they sound like they are of a higher quality. I suppose if they specialised in one area they would be good at what they make.

    Here is an example.

    All the Kranzle machines have Brass pump heads and ceramic coated pistons.

    In my view if you are looking at that price bracket it makes sense to go to a better built machine.

    Here's my Kranzle 1152 TS. It weighs about 5 times more than the last Nilfisk one I had. Different league altogether.

    I believe that Kranzle manufacture their own motors to suit the machines so that probably accounts for a lot of the weight.

    I would say that would be plenty for your needs.
    Have a look in the car detailing section and those that have bought them are very pleased with them.

    That would do the job for around the house no problem. Always prime them with water before you switch it on. Its good practice to have the handle pulled while its running rather than it running and the pressure in the washer.

    The dirt blaster is the job on these.

    That's a better price but was thinking the place in Omagh may suit better as it's not that long of drive for me if something were to go wrong and I'd assume I'd need to spend a small couple of euro extra to get a plug adapter for a German model. But perhaps they are identical.

    Just one more question before I decide to pull the trigger on the Kranzle K 1050. Does anyone know will these washers draw from a barrel without issue? My water pressure can be poor at times.

    I've never bought a power washer from him but I did buy a replacement gun/ lance and hose from him a few years ago, made up to order and found them good to deal with.

    If you have a barrel with the outlet in the bottom and a decent amount of water in the barrel it should be no problem, if you are trying to suck up from a barrel below the washer I don't think it will work.

    lidl had a number of petrol ones for under €300 id you want power thats what id be trying to get.

    If you want something powerful it will suck a barrel dry very fast. We used to have a big one fed off a tank the size of a swimming pool in a warehouse and it sucked dry washing one car.
    But the water pressure wouldnt be much of an issue from your tap as the pump inside would provide the pressure.

    Thanks. Maybe a water butt with a tap near the bottom would do. Well no the barrel would be on ground at the same level as the washer or maybe slightly elevated (slight slope on drive) but perhaps these don't have suction in the same way petrol ones do. I think this machine should still meet my needs though.

    There will be a fair bit of pressure at the bottom of a barrel of its full, drill a hole in one and you can see how much water comes out and how fast it comes out.

    Just want to say thanks to everyone who recommended Kranzle. Good product and done just the job I wanted. Odd cut out running off the tap which is due to the water pressure. Tested it with the hose in a small drum full of water and it drew from it no issue which worked better than the tap. Going to invest in a barrel and try that.
