Anyone else experiencing burst teabags? It's been happening for months now. I thought it was a dodgy box but it's loads of boxes. Lyons tea bags user

What's the best tea from an Irish owned company.

    Is it Barry's?

That wouldn't happen if you were using Barry's.

So long as you discover it while making the tea or just after putting the milk in then it's not too bad, sh1t happens

But if you've just sat down with a biscuit or 3, and its only then you pick up the mug and see the leaves floating at the top, or god forbid - only when you take a sip

There's few things worse in the world

I used to chuck out the tea when that happened but it’s actually grand. I just don’t drink the last mouthful or two.

The bags are bursting open in the teapot. We don't know about yet until we take a drink of tea and it's all loose in the cup. Awful

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 965 ✭✭✭shaveAbullock

Does this only happen to people who don't drink Barry's?

Ah , theres your problem , in a teapot you need to use tea leaves and an infuser.
Teabags go to ****e in a teapot, only Rednecks would try use teabags in a teapot.

Loose leaf. Every bag is burst before I start making the tea

TMK some teabags are sealed with some plastic in the seal which is heated. Manufacturers may be trying to move away from that. Not saying it's what's happening here, but it's a theory.

It never happens with Lyons Gold Blend bags.

No real need for an infuser for regular tea to be honest, though they do add ceremony to things. A regular tea strainer should suffice the OP here.

    Loose leaf for life! (Barrys)
Tea bags are awful. They all have the same weird aftertaste regardless of brand.

I received a sample of Nescafé coffee bags included with a Littlewoods order today. Coffee in a teabag 🧐??

I'd say you're on the ball. Lyons are making plastic-free teabags and might be perfecting the sealing process of the new teabags.

"redneck tea" it would make a great brand name.
I use leaf tea and use little bubbles i get abroad.
Oddly enough i think its better made in mug.

"mugs and redneck tea" thats me....

Bewley's still do. Not sure if Robert Roberts still do or where it's made but they certainly still sell tea and it has the Love Irish branding, make what you will of it.

A lot of drinks in Ireland would be "Protestant" if that's the way you want to look at it.
