    With Jim Carey as Robotnik, and how the posters are turning out, this is going to be one hell of a train wreck. I plan on turning this into a drinking game as soon as possible. This may be even worse than The Room LOL

    Anyone else slightly terrified over what this Sonic looks like? Just based on those creepy feet, and that beefy silhouette I anticipate a nightmare fuel, CGI 'photorealistic' face.

    edit: I'm assuming the Pikachu thing was a joke as I havent heard or seen anyhting since the original 'reveal'

    Yes, but at least Pikachu actually LOOKS like Pikachu is supposed to.

    This is just......bizarre. It would be like if they stuck Pikachu's head on a human body. Nightmare fuel stuff.

    The Chris Pratt poster is an earlier design in which I agree that he doesn't look too bad. Far too too cute but at least he looks like an animal. Most people's complaints are with the new design in which Sonic has muscular humanoid legs.

    The biggest problem with this film though is just the concept of Sonic coming to Earth and presumedly being a sidekick to a human character. It's being done a million times before and it's dumb.

    I laughed - a lot - during this trailer.
    As long as that's not all the funny bits, I think this could be great!

    I wonder if the promotional material was so bad up to now, just so we could have this redemptive moment?

    There is a great Dr. Evil vibe from Carey too. I like it. :)

    Counterpoint: that looks absolute sh*t, like Sega panicked over the upcoming Pokemón film, fast-tracking this. Then called up James Marsden 'cos he had experience starring against CGI sidekicks.

    Kinda surreal watching 1990s era Jim Carry in his full manic glory; I had honestly presumed he was past that phase.

    The furries might be happy I suppose.

    Ah lads you're very harsh. I'm not expecting Citizen Kane, but it looks like fun.

    My niece and nephew will love it too - it's definitely targeted at that demographic (rather than jaded adults).

    That's unfair Mr. E; I daresay most folks here are totally open for a fun, 'family friendly' animation; lord knows stuff like Spiderverse, or Pixar / Laika's output receives almost universal praise here & elsewhere. We're scarcely jaded.

    No, it won't be Citizen Kane, but it sure doesn't look like Paddington 2 either. Which, FWIW, is in my top 10 movies of the last 5-10 years. Seriously.

    It's debatable the only reason Sonic remains a thing is because of nostalgia from adults who grew up on MegaDrive games, or the Tumblr-furry types.

    Sonic just does not look good. I think a couple tweeks on the design he could look great.
    If he is going to look that odd anyway give him proper sonic eyes!

    Paddington 2 is a perfect example of a director who has a creative idea from the get go and makes everything work. From the humour, the setting, the story and the characters.

    It is easily in my top 10 also and i cant count the number of people who scoff when i recommend it and then come back apologising after eventually watching it.

    A glorious movie.

    as for this i am leaving my judgement until i see it, it could work the trailer is so so and the character may be too teenagey for me ( if that is even a word) I am looking forward to a maskesque Carrey and hope he still has it in him. its good that they havent seemed to go for Robotnik looking like he does in the games/cartoon as it wouldnt have suited having both him and sonic being CGI.

    I never understand why they have to mess with the design of Sonic
    Why does he have to look like a really skinny human / hedgehog hybrid with really weird teeth?

    The basis of design has been there since the games
    The cartoons he only had top teeth and you hardly spotted them
    And he was smaller, like you know closer to the the size of a hedgehog fs :P

    As for the film itself it's not that bad looking content wise, but ultimately the the design is so off-putting
