Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Evans No,Hodgson No.

[edit]I did a bit of digging on Hodgson but it looks like the nearest he came was with Inter when he returned for a short spell in 1999. But Mircea Lucescu was manager when Man Utd KO's them so I'm guessing Hodgson maybe took over briefly before Marcello Lippi came in. He was also at Grasshoppers for a season but they weren't in the Champions' League that year.[Edit]

Not according to the UEFA website
The major turning point in the evolution of the competition came in the 1992/93 season when the UEFA Champions League, involving a group stage in addition to the traditional knockout elements, was officially inaugurated after a pilot round robin during the previous season.

Your are right about the year the change over happened but Leeds never made the group stage as Rangers beat them in the Second Qualifying round.

Wasn't there a guy coaching AIK Solna or the likes when they played Arsenal at Wembley? Baxter or something similar? Think he had a son in the team.

Yes well done...thats the hard one out of the way.

Stuart Baxter (born August 16, 1953, Birmingham) is an English football manager.

He started his career as a footballer for Preston North End FC in 1968. He later decided to join Helsingborgs IF who play in Sweden, he then settled in Sweden as a coach. His greatest success was in 1998 when he led the AIK side to become Swedish champions and he also led AIK to Champions League 1999. AIK played FC Barcelona, Arsenal FC and Fiorentinain group B.

    He's not English.

    Also Bruce Rioch is Scottish.

I think it's a trick one, wasn't Graham Rix in charge at Chelsea for a few days before the Tinkerman came onboard.

IIRC Rix only managed Chelski for one game and I think it was a league game.

Still called the Champions League though.

Unless I'm missing something (or you've moved the goalposts?)
