From Amazon? Ordered mine on Black Friday and got it on Saturday so ~2 weeks lead time it seems. Definitely worth the wait though :D

Yeah Amazon. Now it's saying it's in stock on the page, but still no dates. Ordered on the 8th.

If i cancel and go for the other one, it will be here by the 22nd.

Looks nice. How do you find the curve UW screen with the vertical screen beside it? Have you always had a vertiacla monitor? Kind of tempted to repurpose my AOC G2460p that way.

I've gone with the curved Iiyama 34"
    https://www.box.co.uk/iiyama-G-Master-Red-Eagle-GB3466WQSU-B1-_2961160.html

never used a vertical before, taking a bit of getting used to it alright, but this is also my wfh setup so have my work laptop configured to used it all as well and it is very handy for email/documents. have the other 27 now on the other side of the UW so find myself using all 3

So im considering a new monitor, currently have a Dell S2716DG 27" 2560x1440 G-Sync 144Hz and its been fantastic but im thinking something bigger for immersion.

A quick glance around i keep seeing two mentioned for what im willing to pay ie €600 approx.

    Gigabyte G34WQC
Iiyama GB3466WQSU-B1 [im worried about flickering issues]

I see the Dark Matter mentioned which also looks good.
I also spotted this AOC CU34G2X/BK 34 , i had an AOC before and it was excellent.

    Open to suggestions.

Iiyama is the only one I'd be relatively happy that the flicker is fixed. It only seems to be an issue under 48FPS where Freesync doesn't work anyway. I fixed the flicker on my Dark Matter 34" in Cyberpunk and TW:WH2 by lowering the refresh to 120Hz. I have a sneaking suspicion that if I dropped below 40FPS @ 120Hz it would start up again.

€600 is a lot to be paying for this class of monitor though. I had the Iiyama ordered for under £400 delivered and cancelled it for the Dark Matter @ €356.

Put all names in jar and pick up one blindly? :)
They all have their pros and cons, most of the UW in this price use the same VA panel, besides the Dark Matter and Iiyama GB3461. First use Samsung dot panel, should have better backlight and second use IPS.
I went with GB3461 as I need flat screen for work, besides that not much to complain, some IPS bleed and uneven backlight glow but for that price, 400€ cant really say a bad word.
Like Kiki mentioned earlier, theres gonna be CES in January, some new UW could show up. There are already some leaks, like AOC 49 UW. If You are not in a hurry maybe it would be better to wait?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,715 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

Yes waiting might be an option, until i get itchy feet again :P

Having said that the dark matter at that price is hard to ignore if i could actually get for that price.
I am also tempted to stick with 16:9 2560x1440 maybe in a bigger curved screen.

Word of warning if Brexit happens and delivery is in January you might get hit for VAT/Duty etc.

    How much was the monitor?

    around 1200 pound.

I could cancel and get the CRG90 with a guaranteed delivery of 28th of Dec if absolutely necessary

With possibility of 21% flat vat added, not counting the duties I would think about canceling order.
My that just my opinion, there so much mess with brexit that we cant say for sure what will happen.

I was worried about this as well, but in theory you shouldn't have anything extra to pay even with a no-deal. You would have paid Irish VAT already ordering directly from Amazon and monitors are exempt from duty.

Im on the hunt for a ultrawide, the monoprice looked a great deal but looks like its sold out everywhere. Gigabyte to me looks another one but seems out of stock, any suggestions for what I should pick up?

I'd say add the Iiyama GB3466WQSU-B1 to the list, probably the pick of the bunch for overdrive settings and apparently they've fixed the flicker problem these panels have.

  • Registered Users Posts: 97 ✭✭jasonhn

I was looking at that, forgot to add it, just trying to find the best price and possibly avoid buying from the UK

I have the Iiyama curved screen. Got it as an early Christmas present yesterday. Still tinkering with the settings. There is a very faint black smear when the image it REALLY dark but REALLY happy with it having come from a dual screen setup with an IPS and TN (gsync) panel.
Based on what I'm reading online I'm also running the latest firmware too.

Have been playing Cyberpunk on it and looks really nice.
I saw on some forum (possibly boards) that someone experienced the flickering in Crysis Remastered. Loaded up Crysis and low and behold the screen flickered on the loading screen. That is it. Not on the main menu and not in game. The odd thing is that the screen only flickered at the edges where the loading screen didn't cover (as if the loading screen was letterboxed). If the flickering only happens on loading screens then I'm happy with that then but I've yet to try it on multiple games. I've heard of flickering on in game FMV so will see if that happens.
From what I've read too the flickering will disappear when I turn off freesync. Using a 2070 Super.

Overall really happy with it but yet to see if the flickering is a problem for me that would make the screen unusable for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,923 ✭✭✭kearneybobs

Just a follow-up with the flickering issue I've noticed on the Iiyama curved 32".
I've noticed it on Crysis an no other games and only realised it was happening on the loading screen. But the loading screen is letterboxed and the only portion of the screen that flickers is the area outside the letterbox. I recorded the screen via Nvidia instant-replay and it's recording the flickering which implies it's not the screen that's flickering, but the game.

So fare really happy with it. Scrolling through text had a noticeable smear/trail depending on the text/background colour combination but certainly not a deal breaker.

    Is Overdrive set?

Otherwise it could be black level smearing which is a "feature" sadly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,923 ✭✭✭kearneybobs

I've Overdrive set to +1 which it the 4th level over overdrive (-2,-1,0,+1,+2)
I don't see a huge difference in the text trailing when scrolling when I change that so I think it's that smearing that's inherent with VA panels. It little bit jarring coming from a TN panel but love it for the price.

From a pure resolution point of view probable not much at all to be honest. What is the current and new screen size difference, if any?

Of course there maybe lots of other factors also to consider

    Refresh rate
    Frame Sync
    Color space
    Blace levels

    Etc.

Lads would a monitor with the res. 5120x1440 be lost on the RTX3090, or would I be better off getting a 4K screen.

I really want a 32" as the 27" is not much of an upgrade over the 24" I had but the performance and picture is...but that Samsung Oddy Screen is pure PC PORN.

If i had a 3090 i would deffo go for a 4k despite the fewer frame rates you would get.

    Seriously? That good....

Where would be the best place now to get one...dont think it would be much dearer new then buy the one on adverts.

Would 49" not be overkill, biggest monitor I ever had is my current 27" flat....it would prolly take an age to adjust to it....not too mention needing a new desk lol.

Looking at pulling the trigger on this. Would be replacing two rubbish 20 inch FHD monitors I got from the office. 9 to 5 is mainly excel and other similar programs (ie lots of numbers). Have the laptop as a third screen atm and will remain.

I'll move my own pc in there away from my 5 year old OLED tv. Some casual games some evenings and weekends. Will pick up cyberpunk and AC Valhalla at some point. For now it's the division some fifa and whatever interests me from game pass.

The delivery information says only irish vat charged and no import vat to be paid by the customer. They are registered for vat in Ireland.

Any thoughts. Something else I should consider?
    Thanks

Unfortunately the reviews look poor enough:

The Y44w-10 is a deep-pocket purchase that doesn’t quite deliver on the value. You’re better off looking elsewhere, such as the larger Asus ROG Strix XG49VQ or the Samsung C43J890, or better yet, two high-end 27” monitors mounted together.

    zero information.

It was supposed to arrive on the 2nd and still hadn't dispatched according to the site, so I rang them. Your man said he'd refer it to investigations and they'd get it dispatched in the next 48 hours.

2 days later an email saying it was cancelled.

I rang again asking wtf happened. This time he said he'd have to refer it to an internal team and I'd get an email in a couple of days.

Next day I got an email saying 'for my security they could not deliver to my address' or some crap.

never gonna chance buying something like that from them again. horrible experience.

got it from power city. they have loads in stock.

Richersounds is a hundred quid cheaper but they've no stock and cant guarantee when they'll get one for u.

have to say i'm loving it so far. the stand is a pain because it's so deep behind the screen, so I'm wall mounting it.

a deeper desk would be nice, but I can't find anywhere to get a desktop other than the usual ikeas

I'll be very honest. It is big.

But it's not ridiculously big that you can't use it.

My desk is 65cm deep. the stand pushes it out to about 12-15cms from the back edge. I currently have my desk pulled forward 5 or so cm. It's comfortable, but would be more comfortable if i could get that extra few cms back.

I saw it on top of what looked like an lg38 inch monitor, and didn't look much wider, so if you can get it at a reasonable distance with a wall or floor mount, you'd be good.

    (feel like a drug pusher)

Its more like a small dining room table, about 85cm deep i reckon.

Right guys looking for honest opinions on this one.....

I have the chance to get a new monitor at the moment its either one of these but thats because I am not that much in the know and its the only 2 that I have really seen thanks you HWUB video. Any others I should be looking at?

Or am I better of waiting if there is a new panel out shortly.....?

    LG38GN950-G

    38" 3840x1600 175hz IPS. (G Sync)

    27GN950-B

    27" 3840x2600 144hz IPS (G sync)

Any other monitors that are in the mix.....Personally I think I would prefer the 38" as the pixel difference is not huge and its a faster panel.
