The difference with female love song lyrics

With love songs by men, it's a case of "I'll do anything for you, I want you back girl" sort of stuff.

But with women, it's more like "Did you ever really notice me? Why couldn't you love me? What did I do wrong?"

Notice the difference? Take this one for example. First time you hear it, you're like "okay fair enough singer". But eventually you begin to think "oh stop being so needy"

With women love songs, there's also an element of "don't come back to me when it all catches up with you".

I've often thought that the common theme of those songs by sixties female groups like the Chiffons, Shirelles, Ronettes was the girl pining after the bloke who wasn't really interested. You only have to look at the lyrics of songs like One Fine Day, He's so Fine, Tonight's the Night

One things for sure they wouldn't get away with that kind of thing nowadays.

    Not always.
I've a funny feeling that Eamon doesn't want this girl back.

This one's an exception, and that's why I always presumed he was singing to a [Redacted] in it!

I think Tom Waits might disagree... although this is getting into borderline stalker territory!

Oh if I was the one
You chose to be your only one
Oh baby can't you hear me now
    Will I see you tonight
    On a downtown train
Every night its just the same
    You leave me lonely, now
I know your window and I know it's late
I know your stairs and your doorway
I walk down your street and past your gate
I stand by the light at the four way

Interestingly, it's also been covered by Everything But The Girl with female vocals...

"To follow knowledge like a sinking star..." (Tennyson's Ulysses)

Damn I love the guitar in the intro to that Feeling song

They had a few hidden heavy metal segments on that album too iirc

You could get an intersectionality paper out of it.

I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world
    Life in plastic, it's fantastic
You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
    Imagination, life is your creation
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world
    Life in plastic, it's fantastic
You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
    Imagination, life is your creation
I'm a blond bimbo girl, in a fantasy world
Dress me up, make it tight, I'm your dolly
You're my doll, rock'n'roll, feel the glamor in pink
Kiss me here, touch me there, hanky panky
    You can touch
    you can play
if you say "I'm always yours"
I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world
    Life in plastic, it's fantastic
You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
    Imagination, life…

When I walk on by, girls be looking like damn he fly
    I pimp to the beat,
Walking on the street with in my new lafreak, yeah
This is how I roll, animal print, pants out control,
It's redfoo with the big Afro
It's like Bruce Lee rock at the club
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    I work out
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    I work out
When I walk in the spot, this is what I see
Everybody stops and they staring at me
I got passion in my pants
And I ain't afraid to show it (show it, show it, show it)
I'm sexy and I know it
I'm sexy and I know it
When I'm at the mall, security just can't fight 'em off
When I'm at the beach, I'm in a speedo trying to tan my cheeks
This is how I roll, come on ladies it's time to go
We headed to the bar, baby don't be nervous
No shoes, no shirt, and I still get serviced
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    I work out
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    I work out
When I walk in the spot, this is what I see
Everybody stops and they staring at me
I got passion in my pants
And I ain't afraid to show it (show it, show it, show it)
I'm sexy and I know it
I'm sexy and I know it
Check it out, check it out
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, yeah
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, yeah
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, yeah
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, yeah
    Do the wiggle man
    Do the wiggle man
I'm sexy and I know it
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
    I work out
    Girl look at that body
    Girl look at that body
Girl look at that body, I work out
I'm sexy and I know it

These Boots Are Made For Walking was written by Lee Hazlewood. I've read that it was written with the intention of being sung by a male singer. I can't remember if Lee Hazlewood was going to record it as a single himself or if it was intended for someone else. If it had been recorded by a male singer instead of Nancy Sinatra I'd say it either would have been a flop at the time or it would have been forgotten about shortly after its release.

    Glorifying emotional and physical abuse

    Black Heart
    Stooshe
    [Verse 1: Courtney]
I don't like it when you break me honey
Why'd you have to do that?
Tell me when you'll make these tears keep falling
Do you feel like a man?

    [Pre-Chorus: Alex]
Figure, figure there's no working you out whatsoever
Only one way I can sum you up altogether
    You got a black heart

    [Chorus: All]
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
Somehow he's scaring me to death
    He's big and he's bad
    I love him like mad
Momma, he's the best I ever had
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
    He got a black heart

    [Verse 2: Karis]
No walls to build around me honey
Cause you blew my house down
Sticks and stones won't put it back up for me
And that's where we're at now
    [Pre-Chorus: Alex]
Sicker, sicker, I ain't feeling your mouth whatsoever
Naming hurts me more than weight thrown around but whatever
    You got a black heart

    [Chorus: All]
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
Somehow he's scaring me to death
    He's big and he's bad
    I love him like mad
Momma, he's the best I ever had
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
    He got a black heart

    [Bridge: Alex and Karis]
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
And somehow he's scaring me to death, yeah

    [Chorus: All]
    He's big and he's bad
    I love him like mad
Momma, he's the best I ever had
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
    He got a black heart

    [Outro: Alex (Courtney & Karis)]
    He got a black heart
He got such a dirty black heart in him
    Ain't it girls?! (yeah)
    I love him like mad
    Oh, yes I do
    He got a black heart

Most guys end up with a million conditions, a mortgage they can't afford and personal loans out the yinyang for a house and stuff she wanted, working 70 hour weeks and she still isn't happy .... probably because she's still thinking about this guy - that he would even remember that he shagged her once LOL

    My one condition is

    [Chorus]
    Say you'll remember me
    Standing in a nice dress
    Staring at the sunset, babe
    Red lips and rosy cheeks
    Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just in your
    Wildest dreams, ah-aah haa
    Wildest dreams, ah-aah haa

    [Verse 1]
He said, "Let's get out of this town
Drive out of this city, away from the crowds"
I thought, "Heaven can't help me now"
Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down

    [Pre-Chorus 1]
He's so tall and handsome as hell
He's so bad, but he does it so well
I can see the end as it begins
    My one condition is

    [Chorus]
    Say you'll remember me
    Standing in a nice dress
    Staring at the sunset, babe
    Red lips and rosy cheeks
    Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just in your
    Wildest dreams, ah-aah haa
    Wildest dreams, ah-aah haa

    [Verse 2]
I said, "No one has to know what we do"
His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room
And his voice is a familiar sound
Nothing lasts forever, but this is gettin' good now

    [Bridge]
You'll see me in hindsight, tangled up with you all night
    Burnin' it down
Someday when you leave me, I'd bet these memories
    Follow you around
You'll see me in hindsight, tangled up with you all night
Burning (burning) it (it) down (down)
Someday when you leave me, I'll bet these memories
Follow (follow) you (you) around (around)
    (Follow you around)

Not sure i have the gist of this thread :/ Anyway, I did like what Shania Twain tried to do in response to Roberts Palmer's Addicted To Love. Shame it wasn't a better song/comeback.

Also I love this one by The Streets but there's not alot of romance and a serious amount of negging going on! Definitely not the "i'll do anything for you" stated in the op :D
