Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

985 appears to indicate exynos according to this page: https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s20-plus-model-number-sm-g985-g986-differences/

There isn't an exact model number though, so take that with a grain of salt

I bought a Samsung S8+ off eGlobalCentral before, was the real deal - still have it. I would buy using a Revolut card so nothing can affect your main card, but I was happy with the process.

    How is this so cheap!?

    How is this so cheap!?

On the broader scale - sweatshop labour in East Asia, and exploitation of rare-earth mineral mines in Central Africa.

Medium scale - supply and demand

Smaller scale - this particular outlet often has good deals, and phones are often priced at a premium to capture early adopter pre-orders and then sharply discounted shortly afterward

I was thinking of upgrading and price especially was putting me off now I'm thinking this is perfect ha!

I bought my phone off them , no complaints from me . Fast enough delivery with no taxes , genuine phone .

I'd have no problem using them again.

I seen some positive reviews but mostly negative.

Is it worth the risk? It's a lot of money so I'm unsure ya know.

I haven't purchased from them before despite being tempted to for years. It always had that "I can't find enough proof that they are ok" feel about it. There must be threads on here somewhere about whether it is safe or not.

For those of you that ARE tempted on this, I saw on the French version of the site that the phone appears to be €699 but don't know if you can purchase from that site. Again, I am not suggesting anyone purchase from Eglobal!

Also, if you use code SMS15 you get €15 off any purchase over €450.

edit: found this thread from a while back

I bought from them years ago. Only issue is warranty, anything happens you could have zero support.

I'd have no issues with them , my phone came from a warehouse in Europe. It was way cheaper than everywhere at the time so I was reallu caustious at first . . I know they used do a lot of high spec camera etc that plenty have bougt without issue.

Looks like a great deal, but just to note it looks like this has 4G only and no 5G, but maybe that's not important to the OP.

Normally they are phones from the United Emirates for example. Sometimes, they don't have all the frequencies for 4g (and now 5g) we use in europe, so sometimes it only works with some carriers. Normally that happens with xiaomi, etc, samsung, it could be the wualcom version (US) sometimes, so double check it.
In any case, if it is a UE phone, samsung will not provide warranty in here (it has to be european one, I bought a s9, but it was from Germany, and warranty works)

Have used site multiple times before with no issue except delivery of up to two weeks in non-pandemic times

Amazon have the S20+ 5G 128GB in grey or black for £849. You can also claim a free Galaxy Watch Active.

Might be a better option for people who don't want to buy an out of region device that Samsung won't want anything to do with if something does go wrong however unlikely.

It gives the specification on this page, under the specification tab:

    https://www.eglobalcentral.eu/samsung-galaxy-s20-g985-8gb-128gb-dual-sim-cloud-blue-1.html

It appears to do all the bands that Irish operators use for 4g but I am not an expert.

Prices of the S20 seem to be falling in general

It is £679 now on Amazon

Well remember that that is about €780 for a S20.

Here, we are talking about the S20+ for €700...

This is what I am currently considering - the Mi 10 Pro 5g (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH MI NOTE 10)

It's a beast of a phone, and comparable to the S20 Ultra, but cheaper, and a great deal on Wonda at €820 for the global version (don't look at the chinese models which are missing some Irish bands):

    https://www.wondamobile.com/xiaomi-mi10-pro-global-8gb-ram-256-gb-sim-free-unlocked.html

    https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-review-1102534/

I have purchased 2 flagship phones in the past from Wonda and they are trustworthy.

I have my eye on this phone for a while myself and that's a great price. They say they pay all import taxes so I presume there's nothing to worry about there? I'd be tempted to get the 512gb version for €30 more but it's probably overkill. Any idea of delivery times?

I bought the s20+ from eglobal on last week. My order still shows processing. The reviews posted on trust pilot from the last few days are from people who have not received their orders. I wonder if the company is going south.

Hopefully works out for ya. I ended up buying one on Harvey Norman wasn't as cheap but I already have two other orders coming from Asia I've no idea I'll ever get so wanted something more secure on this end.

I have purchased 2 flagships from them over the last couple of years. Generally about 1-2 weeks before phone arrived. Had tracking as far as I recall. Never had an issue with taxes, and from what I understand there is no risk here as whatever way they move these phones around, they ultimately get to you from a European location.

    NOTE

From what I can see, the 512 is the Chinese variant and which misses some Irish 4g/5g bands possibly - but you can check for yourself on that.

Also, in terms of delivery times, the 256 Global version (the one I would get for compatibility, but is is only single sim if that matters to you) takes "a few days to process"...make of that what you will.

Just an update. The money for the phone was pending on my online banking but today seems to have gone back into my account. I've gotten no email from eglobal saying my order has been cancelled and when I check my order on their website it shows processing. Am I safe enough to order a phone from someone else now or can they still take the money? I just dont want to end up with 2 phones!

I would ring my bank to see if they can see the reason for the transaction reverting first before you do anything else!

Just wondering what happened in the end with your case . Did you ever get a reason why your order was cancelled ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 795 ✭✭✭Lima Golf

No I haven't chased it up yet. Still the same, the order shows pending and the money is still in my account. No cancellation email off them. The trust pilot reviews are desperate in the last week or two. They dont seem to reply to emails or enquiries at all. I think I'll just order another of a reputable place and leave less than €700 in my current account for a few weeks in case they try and take it.

I'm thinking of buying from harvey norman. Its €1130 for the S20+ but includes a free samsung smartwatch. Anyone know of any better deals from somewhere reputable?

This offer might suit some better , those still looking for a S20 . Comes from Amazon with 3 year warranty so plenty of reassurance if anything does go wrong

Offer is on Amazon.de site . Phone is €696. Plus they are running offer to trade in your old phone . I just tried a 5 year old phone there and they are giving €116 for it.

So effectively getting the latest flagship under €600 inc 3 year warranty

There isn't a huge difference in price between the 2 tbh .

The plus was also available in the grey colour.

    Hi,

I've bought a total of three new phones from EGlobal over the last few years - all Samsung.

All three arrived and worked fine. They were all unlocked, two of them were dual sum and all were models designed for non - European markets (Middle East and Asia).

Granted, Eglobal don't get delivered quickly (I think that I've had to wait between 10- 28 days), but you can't beat their prices.

I'm actually thinking of buying another phone for my wife shortly, and was all set up buy from Eglobal again, but now I'm wondering if I do, will Vodafone activate the WiFi calling for me (subject to me buying whatever plan is needed).?

    Thanks,

    G.

I wouldn't. I ordered the s20+ on 2nd May, the money showed pending on my account then returned into my account after a few days. About 2 weeks later, no word from eglobal so I sent an email cancelling my order and I went out and bought a phone in Harvey Norman. Eglobal took the money from my account on Friday but my order still shows processing online (as it has done for the last month). I opened a dispute with visa. If the phone ever shows up I'll sell it but if not hopefully visa will cover it.
