Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where did the AW139 go after being down at the river ? i was in east wall and saw him on approach, but abput 15-20 mins later i was up in Fairview and he came over the p[ark, heading north and descending as if to land, did he perhaps land at the fire brigade training centre on the malahide road?

I see vulcan57 started a Flightfest thread that was then closed.....

.....as this thread was initially about a rumoured vulcan flypast would not a focused Flightfest thread make more sense? Esp now than we have official word and a source for updates?

I believe that they have got an airframe extension to be able to fly for up to another 2 seasons if they have the funding.....was chatting to an ex RAF person 2 months ago. Very "he said.....she said" I know

As for the BBMF.....I doubt Dublin would feature highly on their schedule priority.
The Vulcan has an engines and airfrfame issue they told me the airframe is the major issue but after last year issue at Doncaster no spare engines either

Looking forward to the event, should be good!

Never much of a secret anyway

Anybody who works along the Liffey between East Link and Matt Talbot bridges should try to arrange to go to work on the 15th September to get the best views. The half finished Anglo building might be some use after all.

I agree but not possible over the city
Sandymount strand and yes it would be possible

    We share the date with
    http://www.visitsouthport.com/whats-on/southport-air-show-p139433

116 nautical miles from Southport to Dublin maybe some chance of "borrowing" some aircraft

  • Registered Users Posts: 226 ✭✭Air Boss

Any body have Euro 230,000 handy and we can have a Антонов Ан-124 an AN124

    Excellent point.

I was at the Tall Ships and the quays were pretty packed. Must find someone with a quayside apartment and balcony........

    A few other suggestions
The two major obstacles - Liberty Hall and the Ulster Bank building would have a great view the other major obstacle is the Spire but not very useful
Do the tax payers own that bank ?

Much better the penthouse in the Clarion Hotel includes a jacuzzi look at the view below

    luxury-hotel-dublin.jpg

Otherwise some where in east wall near the chimmeys long along the south wall would see all aircraft set up for their run should be good and avoid the massive traffic jam when it is over

Will the flyover be East to West?
And the question of height is an issue.....is it 1500ft and above?

....was thinking East Wall would be good...purely to be away from crowds

East to west not unless the weather is very unusal
    height ???
hopefully below 1500ft but not until they pass the pigeon house if the bridges are still open (prob not) the east link would be good position

    East to West

Is it not meant to be 1,200ft at Custom House?

10,000 1,000 and above if the IAA has anything to do with it!

    Edit: ^ :P

Nevertheless, what are the actual chance of getting some proper military aircraft? I know cost's are involved and many a/c may be unavailable due to other commitments, but the likes of Typhoon's, Chinook's, tankers, etc..?

What's with the thread title ???

    Most. Misleading. Ever.

Anyone coming on here to talk about the Dublin Flightfest would miss this completely.

I maybe got the wrong impression from your mention of South Wall...

Looking at the map posted about...Pigeon House road seems like a good bet.

I assume there will be a designated display point....ie where any dignitaries are located...any idea of that spot?

Apologies if I was out of line?

The question is why you're not going to be in it? Although you might be working. Then again why can't you be in the Lingus Airbus? Me? I'd love to be in it. But hopefully I can be somewhere on the quays with the kids.
    I hate flying.

    hi there
I'm off that day so I might bring my own kids. I still want to see GH flying his Irish-built (by himself) aircraft!

    How about the Reds ?

Red's would be next to impossible. Their schedule is set, and finalized many months before the airshow seasons even begin. And they are set for – Bupa Great North Run – South Shields on the same date.

Only time I Have EVER known the Arrows to make a change was last year when they did a 10 plane fly by in battle formation (rare) over Newcastle NI on the day of the Olympic openings. They diverted from Belfast to do the fly by as they were unable to do the Newcastle airshow the next month.

My mistake thought they were in Soutport that day, misread the calender.
    Would have been nice.

Doubt it will be a B787 after the fire in Heathrow last night.
How are you so sure about the Vulcan?
