Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Just wondering how post lockdown Belfast is compared to down south?

    Especially interested in going out at night. I think there is a food requirement there too but am wondering is it the same 2 hour slot set up? Is live music happening anywhere?

    Also interested in any general recommendations. Planning on hwading up in a few weeks.

    Hey Op. Its 90 minutes with food and that includes your hotel. You can order a drink at the bar and take it to your room. Seemingly anywhere with beer gardens is exempt however both places our hotel sent us to said no that it was 90 minutes with food!

    Don't know about live music as we found a couple of restaurants that were happy to let you stay as long as you wanted after dinner which was great.

    Shops are all open, no masks required (as yet). Bit confusing as they have a one way system in some of them but you can go down an aisle and then its blocked off at the end so you have to come back up the same aisle. Most people aren't following the system as it crosses over etc and a bit confusing.

    Was just there on Friday night. Booked a table for dinner in a bar/restaurant. Asked about the 90 minutes but was told it's only a recommendation, not enforced. Guy said we could stay there all night, place a couple of doors down was doing live music. Only the odd shop had a queue, not as many masks around as in Dublin but some shops had signs requesting masks be worn.

    Anyone been in Belfast recently ? Much happening in the evenings ?

    Myself and herself heading up for a break for 2 nights Monday week , havnt booked a hotel yet , seems to be loads available at very reasonable prices .
    What’s the bars/ restaurants scene like in the evening with the Covid restrictions ? Any recommendation on city centre hotel within strolling distance of the main areas?

    Was there a couple weeks ago, great city, absolutely loved it! You don't need to order food in order to have drinks as long as you're sitting outside and there are a ton of great beer gardens and rooftop bars to choose from. We loved just strolling down all the many little alleys and stopping for one or two drinks outside each bar. We stayed at Bullitt in the city center, close to loads of restaurants and bars and they have a good outdoor bar and beer garden themselves.

    I found you really need a booking if you have a particular place in mind for dinner and drinks. Some places only give you the 90 minutes but some give longer, I know for Revolution de Cuba our booking slot was for 2.5 hours. Bootleggers is a great bar that just does walk in's, no bookings. The Perch has a covered rooftop bar that only takes walk in's too, don't know if they do food but great for drinks if it's raining and you haven't booked anywhere.

    Things are a lot more relaxed up in Belfast than they would be down in Dublin or cork etc.

    You’ll get away with more in general, and no nonsensical approaches to things. Like wearing a mask upon entry to an establishment for a period which is usually under 15 seconds where you are brought to your table.

    Give Crumlin Road Jail a go. Was up there last year and the hotel receptionist suggested it. Didn't even know it was open to the public.
    Was hugely surprised by it. Well worth the visit.
