From the Ballymoe Glenamaddy area of East Galway I'll nominate Jeremiah Mee, RIC constable who mutined and led others to mutiny from Listowel Barracks were they were stationed, because of the treatment of Irish people by the Black and Tans and Auxillaries.

And Eamonn Ceannt, one of the leaders of 1916 and signatory to the Proclamation who was born and raised in Ballymoe RIC barracks, the son of a RIC constable, 'bit of a pattern here', who was executed in Kilmainham and finally, Fr. Flanagan, again from Ballymoe, who emigrated to USA and founded 'Boys Town' in Nebraska, an orphanage for young boys and which is now a centre for troubled youths.

Lots of history out there folks.

St Patrick. He lived on an island off our coast and left his foot print on the main land!
