    Hi all,

Seeking some advice on smart heating control system.

We moved to a newly built house and has 2 zone heating system. Boiler is a Combi Boiler so there is no real requirement to have a control for that.

Heating is controled via EPH R27 2 Zone system and two basic thermostats placed in upstairs and downstairs.

House is 4 beded house and has Gas Central heating.

We have never seen that thermostats reaching 18 degrees and sometimes have seen EPH R27 working outside the set time periods as well. (Ex: Heating was supposed turn on at 6.00 and finish at 7.00. But even at 8.00 it was running saying all day)

With all this we thought of going for a smart heating control system with digital thermostats which we can use to see the room temperature.

Was looking for Nest and Hive but couldn't find a proper solution yet.

Your experience and advice would be greatly appreciated.

You’ll need 2 Nests, 2 climote or 1 hive and a second add on.

You’ll also need to forget about thinking that you turn it on for an hour in the morning. And start thinking of what temperature you want the heat at.

Why turn it on for an hour if the house is warm?

    Thanks ted1 for the reply.

If I get 2 nests does it mean 2 receivers needs to link to the Combi Boiler?

We don't feel warm enough inside the house. Even though temperature sets up to 21 degrees it has never reached to that level. All the time thermostat has a temperature somewhere around 12-14 degrees. This is the reason for turning the heating on for an hour in the morning, half an hour in the afternoon and another half an hour or hour in the evening.

Do you think better way to manage this rather than turning the heating on for particular time period during the day?

    Thank you.

It may need to be on longer than 1/2 hour to reach the temperature, the internal thermostat may be set to low or there may be an issue with the pump or similar. I’m not a plumber or an RGI, may be no harm in having someone look at it
