Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am looking at getting a van (focus/fiesta type) for use as private car. Anyone aware how easy this is or if insurers are funny about it?
(carying bikes and dogs a lot so makes sense on one level to have the space)

There are companies who will insure a 'commercial vehicle for private use'. FirstIreland are one broker who've quoted me for such. insuremyvan are another.

You'll be paying commercial tax @ €333 instead of private tax at ~€200. Just get a car and fold the seats down.

No you wont. You can pay private tax but you must DOE(not NCT) every year

And private tax on commercial vehicle is done on the old cc system.

Yeah got confused between commercial tax and taxing a commercial privately. It's as Alan says it's based on the cc so it won't be €333 it'll be more.
