Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone remember this very short lived comic that was out in about 97,98?I can't remember what it was called but it was a sort of Irish take on Viz and it wasent very funny tbh.One of the strips was called Joe Schlick which was about a rural gombeen poliitician and another was porno Punjab about an Indian guy addicted to porn.I remember it's two creaters were interviewed by Sean Moncrief on his late night chat show once.Very studenty D4 types.

Vaguely remember it..a load of shiite from what i recall.

The Slate now..that was a gem of a publication..they actually printed Micky Joe Harte's phone number on the front page with the words "Its me...Here's my number..Gimme a ring!".

    Lovely stuff.

    Was it Zit?

Ah no, says here it's British and from '91

The Slate was class though. Moved online, not sure if it is still around.

Was it Fitz? It was a short lived comic from what I remember, I only ever saw one edition for sale (which I still have.) I bought it around 1996 in Galway.

There was a character called Father Ned from Innebred.

A quick look on Ebay brings up this result, complete with Father Ned on the front!

Mystery solved, heres the cover of the first issue of Fitz and there Porno Punjab at the bottom. It seems it was running longer than I thought as it first appeared in ,95.There's a bit on it in brand new retro with one of the strips reproduced,it was even less funny than I remembered.

Spotted this at a second hand book stall. Had a flick through it but didn't buy. Some of the artwork in the strips was decent enough but the content was very lame.

Does anyone remember Yellow Press and the Pike? C.1993. I have a copy of YP with Sinead O'Connor as a superhero on the front (Wonder Wagon! :O).
Pat Plank a Randy auld fella and Thaddeus the TD were 2 other characters.
I only ever got my hands on one copy of the Pike, a series of short comic strips or one panel jokes, grouped by theme. Very funny stuff, some of the above Gak Bag content from Arthur Mathews was reprinted in it I think. (Gak Bag was before my time).

I remember Fitz. They ripped off that famous police spoof advert from Viz, substituting a policeman with a doctor.

don't know, hardly the sort of thing the Americans would be into? but i can't be sure, it's 50/50 i'm drawn to English but thinking back more american, don't think that will help you much, have you something in mind? Would they have been called 'Laugh' or something on those lines?

I remember one called "Fitz" it was very short lived though.

It was a kind of Viz rip-off

There was an Irish publication - from memory the front cover was Yellow - and one of the characters was “JJ McGreer, the Lotto Scrutineer”. Basically a fella from KPMG sitting there doing nothing during the lotto and getting a bag of cash at the end.

They also had a “Top 10 Blacks in the Jacks” feature on Dublin nightclub bathrooms.....can you even begin to imagine the SJWs reaction to this if it were repeated now?

I’m pretty sure I still have it somewhere at home.

    The Yellow Press

That’s it. Or at least the one I’m thinking of.

Blacks in the Jacks was 100% in The Slate. Not sure if it was a countdown, just an edition devoted to the phenomenon which came about in the late 90s/early 00s.

Was it the Slate or Fitz had a cover with Phil Lynnot as a snowman, or something like that? It was Phillo anyway
