Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pebble border around Properites

    Hi,

I was reading this reply on a thread here (https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=111635269&postcount=79) and was hoping for some more detailed information:
Pebbles are done in the immediate vicinity of the dwelling for gas release and drainage and to stop the water level raising above the DPC.

Is this mandatory on all house types regardless of location? We have a new build and within the next year will be finishing the driveway/yard. Are there any specific features which make this necessary?

From reading on down through the thread some more responses seem to indicate that it is used when the ground slopes into the property as opposed from away from it.

In our current 'plan' the final surface will either be level or fall away from the property. Is there a minimal slope gradient to avoid this?

    Thanks.

The quote makes little sense and I am not reading the thread.
They may be pebbles on top of a french drain which is used for keeping the water table lower around the house by draining away from the house.
As for gas release, the reference is to Radon which needs a proper set up
    .
As to to stop the water rising above the dpc, given that the dpc will be c 6 inches above ground level, the mind boggles.
