Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Today is a month to Christmas, therefore, it's a good time to have a Christmas themed competition.

    We're going to run the:

    BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE!!!

    It's up to you what counts as a Christmas movie, but we're looking for feature films, not made-for-TV films or shorts.

    Please don't list your nominations on thread, though discussion about Christmas movies is allowed.

    Please PM me your top 5 Christmas films. Don't think that "somebody else will probably nominate XXX, so I'm not going to". You don't want to risk your favourite film not getting nominated. Please include the year of release as some films have multiple versions, so I know which version you're nominating. Or, if that's too much effort, even just the main star of it will be enough for me to identify it from its twin.

    Once we reach a "nice" number we'll close off sign-ups. A "nice" number is something that's to a power of 2 so we can have a proper knock-out competition. I don't expect this to be more than 64, but you never know. If we're short a "nice" number, I have a few wildcards that I can add to make up the numbers. All nominated films will get a chance to enter the competition.

    Films with multiple nominations will get seeded so that they can avoid competing against each other in the early rounds.

    Once we have enough nominations in, we'll start the competition. So, get nominating.....

    Die Hard 2 is a superior Christmas film to Die Hard.

    Just sent in my nominations. Tough to whittle it down to 5, but at least I didn't have the option of adding in any of the amazing made-for-TV Christmas movies.

    Not really, see a green sign up tag and just sign up, so what if you sign up more than once no ones going to criticize you for it, well I wouldn't anyway :)

    I reckon Forum Games is for sign-ups and Other Forum Games is for reveals... that is all I know. :o

    it started out with games sign ups and off topic thread being pushed off the front page very quickly due to d&d and codenames games filling up the front page. In order to keep new games signups and discussion thread on front page, it was thought that separate games sub fora would stop that from happening.
    the games threads are usually linked in the sign up threads anyhow, so you wont have to navigate into the sub fora, but just follow the link from the game you signed up to. well, that's the idea anyhow.

    Just checked: 39 individual films nominated. But to bring it to 64, I have plenty of wildcards I can use. Will probably leave this open another week or so and then kick off the competition some time around the 9th December.
