Grant vortex overheating problem

I recently installed a grant vortex boiler house module. Everything was fine for the first week but then the customer rang saying the boiler never cut in that morning. I called and it had went out on the high limit stat. I got some air out at the coil and everything worked fine for the next 11 days. But he rang me today saying he had the same problem. All he’s using it for at the moment is heating hot water, there are two motorised valves controlling upstairs and downstairs, it’s a sealed system, boiler stat seems to be cutting in and out fine when I turn it, new circulating pump fitted with install.... can anyone think of a reason please??

I presume pump is pumping in correct direction?
Turn your multimeter to temp and stick the temperature wire end in the pocket to check the boiler stat.
Does this still happen with boiler stat at lowest setting?
    Did you flush the system?
What programme is pump set to?

Does this have a pump overrun? It might need one.

Just things running through my head after reading your post.

Hi I had trouble getting one probe in alright because it was so tight. Ya he did say that the water was very hot even though the stat is down to the lowest. I had a laser to check the temps but I don’t think it’s very accurate

first place to look and rule out so

you should not have any difficulty getting probes in go back and take photo and post here

they are usually quite loose even

that is why I suggested thinking the run stat probe may have popped out

So I called there today, I just changed the circulating pump to rule it out for definite. I had the stat turned down to the lowest and I had a thermometer on the flow pipe and it got to 70 degrees so I manually plugged out the burner and let the pump take the heat away. I’m going to put in a service call but do ye think that the dual stat could be faulty? When the stat is down to the lowest should it cut out below 60 degrees or there or thereabouts?

sounds like a faulty stat run temp 55/75

I changed one about 3 months ago on a vortex with same issue

    it can happen

the lads in grants are sound you will have no issue with them

Quick question, How old was the boiler that you changed the stat on 3 months ago?
I only fitted this boiler about 3 weeks ago

The only thing that’s bugging me is the fact that it worked for 5 days and then worked for 11.
Are grant usually good to sort out the problem themselves?
