Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wilson out now too, turning into a real disaster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Cant really argue with that in fairness!

Thats topping the group gone. So will need to try to qualify a much more convoluted way, may v well end up meeting the Scots in a all or nothing match

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Almost a great catch by Kumar out in the deep, but it just eludes him and goes for 4.

98-6 off 14. 59 needed off the last 6 with just 4 wickets remaining.

Nearly 11 an over required. Big ask but not impossible. Couple of massive overs required by this pair.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Thompson gets a six, only the second boundary in the last 8 overs.

35 off the last 3 needed. Still in miracle territory.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Only 1 off the last two balls in that over, so Ireland need a massive 27 from the last 2 overs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 538 ✭✭✭Shakey_jake

Need someone to step up and bat a few 6s

    Come on Ireland!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

    19 needed off the last.

    Canada win by 10 runs.

Our struggles in T20 in recent years continue.

To lose by so little and still have wickets in hand suggest that we should have slung the bat at a few more in the last few overs, although I was not watching the game, so I assume it was more difficult for them at the death. Anyone watching it?

Canada bowled well and the pitch was a bit slow and it's always hard to ask the tailenders to hit boundaries from the off. The boundaries as well were long, so it made it that bit more difficult for sixes.

They did try at the death but combination of big boundaries and quite decent bowling was against them. Lost it middle order i thought, loads of 2s and even 3s available to run but went for too many big shots.

Makes sense. Thanks for the info.

Canada provided the perfect template for that and with Ireland having had a good start, they could have just milked the 1s and 2s and put the pressure back on Canada.

Jersey on Friday now and that really is a must win to stay in the competition.

Hopefully a few more twists and turns to come yet

The Global T20 tournament looks to have been a massive help to the Canadian players. The T20 Slam would have been great for our players but had to revert to playing Scotland and Netherlands instead.

You can underestimate how much those Canadian players would have learned from the top players involved in the Global T20.

Mad to think that HK beating Jersey today would be a good result for us

    HK 89/6 after 14

PNG beat netherlands and UAE beat Nigeria this morning

Hong Kong make 149/7 v Canada

  • Registered Users Posts: 157 ✭✭gavinoontheweb

We probably don't deserve to top this group but a HK victory here would help, following this we would obviously have to win our remaining games and potentially rely on some other results going our way also.

Maybe an Oman win over Canada and then Oman slipping up to jersey?

Canada really struggling here. On 47/3 in the 11th.

Brings Hong Kong into the play off reckoning

Almost impossible for us to top the group at this point. Important for us to finish either 2nd or 3rd which means we would be one win away from qualifying in the playoffs plus we would have a safety net even if we lost that first play off game.

    Canada only make 118/9

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,906 ✭✭✭Barney92

Scotland are about to post the first 200 score of the tournament. They'll be dangerous if we meet them in the playoffs.

A not too crazy scenario is one where Canada beat Oman but lose to the UAE, in which case those three teams will end up on 8 points (assuming Oman beat Jersey). Two big wins would see us through in first then.

Whether or not the above happens, two wins will almost certainly bring us to the playoffs whereas losing one could cost us big time.

I still think we have it in us to post a big score like the scots today. Looking forward to tomorrow

Jersey 28/1 after 4. Decent recovery

Adair 3 for 4 from 3 overs, doesn't get more economical than that at 20/20.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,224 ✭✭✭Hodors Appletart

    99 for nine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,708 ✭✭✭Speak Now

    99 for nine

Adair to bowl last over I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    104/9 in the end

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,224 ✭✭✭Hodors Appletart

    Ireland require 105

not as easy as it looks I think although the ground is smaller than the other one out there
