I was in the MCI medical team area with my bother (med co-ordinator) and my son when news of Doc John's death came through, an incredible thing happened.

The race organizers offered to cancel the rest of the meet, but the med's never missed a beat and let the racing continue. Professional to the end they put aside their very obvious grief and got on with the job.

Next day my son told me he wanted a motorbike. I remember clearly saying 'Kev you've seen my mates killed over the years, you were there yesterday, are you f*cking mad?'.

He's on about his 8th bike now.

I remember Doc John Hinds well, RIP.

Seen and followed a lot of the road races since witnessing my first Skerries in 1980. But I never saw so many fans both young and old bawling as Jim sadly broke the news that Doc John passed away earlier that morning. Your brother spoke so well under the circumstances and to this day, both Jim and the amazing MCI Medical Team have kept the very same high standards of trauma injuries that Doc John thought them.

    Thanks Nodster.

Yea the level of professionalism they displayed was incredible, the team never missed a beat, I couldn't believe it.

I told them afterwards that I knew some of their grief as I'd lost friends/comrades oversea's with the UN and how much I admired how they dealt with their loss.

Medic's are a special breed of human.

I had a few exchanges with him on the PB forum, and then met him once in Skerries.

He took me through the paddock and had a right laugh. It was like walking with Dr Costa, the way he was received throughout.

I went on the escort to see him home that last time. I have never witnessed anything like it. The solidarity and support, the overpasses lined with medical personnell and ambulances, garda and police cars, and just people affected — it was incredible.

He was a legend and could rip the piss like a pro.

    Sorely missed, Delta 7.

Iirc, and I often don't, he rode a falco doing his gig. He saw mine parked up at Skerries and got chatting about set up, gave me great advice. Very nice fella and did amazing work, rip.

He got through fair few steeds.

He had a CBR1000RR (pictured), he had an RC8R, a GSX-R1000, an RC45, and even an S1000RR, IIRIC.

He was supposed to hard on bikes :)
