Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Status Quo - It's Christmas Time for me, with the Darkness a close second.

    I thought Status Quo - It's Christmas Time was from yonks ago but only 2008.

    You do realize that three of the songs above do not qualify for this contest - originals from the 2000s! :)

    Hudson Taylor it is:D

    I like Something about December by Christina Perri and December song by George Michael.

    The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)
    Bob Dylan - Must Be Santa
    Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me
    Coldplay - Christmas Lights.

    Only four songs I've enjoyed from this century. Even at that the last two there I would never put on myself but would consider them decent radio songs. The top two for me are classics.

    I’m gonna throw up my few tunes

    1. Faith Hill : Where are you Christmas
    2. Britney Spears: My only wish this year
    3. Taylor Swift: Christmas tree farm
    4. Kelly Clarkson: Underneath the tree
    5. Sawyer Goodwin: Christmas Shoes :D
    6. Leona Lewis : One more sleep
    7. Lea Michelle: Christmas in New York

    One more sleep
    Something about December
    Santa tell me

    Barely made it on this one but I’m not as up to speed on the 2000s ones so it’ll be fun!

    Thank you all for your nominations, the nominations are now closed.

    46 individual songs were nominated.

    The top 24 seeded automatically advance into the last 32.

    The remaining 22 playoff for the remaining 8 spots.

    The first playoff matchup is;

    Jonas Brothers - Like it's Christmas

    Foil, Arms & Hog - Honest Christmas Song

    Vote for the song you want to keep. Play-offs are first to 4 votes or most votes after 24 hours, once a winner is decided we move onto the next matchup.

    As highlighted, the second one is the better of the two, although that's not saying much! The Jonas Brothers one is too tedious to even let it play through, while Honest Christmas Song is slightly humorous.

    By my calculation, they have only got three votes so far: I gave one vote to Foil, etc.

    The Next Matchup is;

    Mariah Carey - Oh Santa

    Lea Michelle - Christmas in New York

    RuPaul - Hey Sis, It's Christmas

    It's a triple threat so 3 enter but only 1 advance, first to 4 or whoever's winning by 8am tomorrow morning.

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭dubstepper

    I don't think I ever heard any of those three before??

    It has to be Oh Santa! by Mariah Carey. I nominated it and it's a nice catchy number, including some nice melodic hooks. I did give a quick listen to the other two contenders and they left me cold!

    Oh Santa! was on a Top of the Pops 2 Christmas special a few years ago and will probably be repeated again at some stage!

    This is the original version from 2010. The video shown above was a rehashed version from last month with Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson.

    Dropkick Murphy’s - The season’s upon us.

    Bob Dylan - Must Be Santa

    And last but not least

    Newsong - Christmas shoes

    First to 4 or whoever is in the lead by 1pm tomorrow

    Dropkick Murphy's... great band, always reminds me of watching NHL ( not their Christmas song)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,808 ✭✭✭Smell the glove

    I have to say I enjoyed that Dropkick Murphys' song, which I had not heard before, despite the video! The Bob Dylan song, which I have heard a few times before on Christmas FM, is just alright. But....

    NewSong's (didn't know that was their name) The Christmas Shoes gets my vote. It's the tune and the style as much as anything. Sorry!

    I’d be the same. Not my usual song but of those three it’s Christmas shoes

    Next up is another triple Threat match up;

    Meghan Trainor - I'll Be Home

    George Michael - December Song

    Julian Casablancas - I wish it was Christmas today

    My vote goes to Julian Casablancas as highlighted. It's a pleasant alternative-oriented tune.....and I nominated it!

    I had a listen to the other two songs. The Megahan Trainor one is pretty disposable. The George Michael song, however, is intriguing and I like it. I never heard it before. I take it that Christmas FM never played it.

    I'm actually going to vote for Meghan Trainor - I'll Be Home I felt like in 2020 it held more of a purpose and was poignant.
