Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Its the Manx transmitter. 20 KW if running full power.

Deadly , I thought they had a license for 1 Kw transmitter ?

Should be heard here with a decent radio here then.

The 1KW is for their own Community Licence in Suffolk (due to be on 648khz) Mad_Lad. The relay via Manx on 1368 is on whatever power that the TX is running at these days. It was 20kw but I think it has been lower recently, although still around the 15kw mark.

Yeah, I could only listen to maybe 10 mins unfortunately. 1368 Khz, signal was decent at that time of the day, it was afternoon, forget what time, some fading but ok.

I hope to be able to hear more on my Websdr from Work next week.

Signal now from 1368 Khz is almost 20 db over with an interfering station on the same frequency.

You can hear my Web Sdr here.

Thanks Mad Lad -- this will be interesting in January 2018 "The following BBC Local Radio AM transmitters will close in January 2018: Radio Devon on 1458, BBC Essex on 1530, Radio Humberside on 1485, Radio Kent on 774 and 1602, Radio Lancashire on 1557, Radio Lincolnshire on 1368, Radio Nottingham on 1584, Radio Surrey on 1368, Radio Sussex on 1161 and 1485, and Radio Wiltshire on 1332 and 1368."

Yes I remember reading of the closures to those AM stations, might be less interference at night to Manx, there's no interference to Manx during the day though but the signal is weaker.

Thanks, the future plan is to have multiple antennas and antenna switcher but I don't have much time to figure out how the antenna switcher communicates with the SDR.

Interesting comments at the end of the transmission -- a bit of back tracking regarding 1368khz and Manx Radio to what was mentioned in one programme by a presenter !
And no solid news about 648khz .
    2018 looks like great fun

It was very good on your SDR this afternoon about 15:30 to 16:00 - also on a portable for me out in the garden .
Try again tomorrow as the 648khz test signal is meant to be running still.

I can just about pick it up on my WebSdr, with an interfering Spanish station on 639 Khz and another Spanish station at 657 Khz, Now I can't rotate my external antenna but I doubt it would make a difference.

    http://emeraldsdr.ddns.net:8073/

Radio Caroline has little hope against these strong stations at 1 Kw, it's sandwiched in between these two strong stations.

Notice it sandwiched between the two Spanish stations ?

I can get it quite well from mid/late afternoon. Peaks quite strong at times. Slovenia does cause some problems later in the evening.

Probably when the Spanish stations are not so much of a problem.

I don't remember so many strong Spanish stations on MW as i have this year ?

I think they may have put on a couple of more transmitters.
I think I once counted about least 8, all carrying the same program.

Yes 1kw -- like another poster I start to receive it after 3pm and then all evening with fading -- sometimes I check at 7am and a good interference free signal then .
Have a look at this little video of mine -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXvCKh8PnWM
    No external antenna

That's a pretty good signal for 1 Kw ! I must try to check out for it during the day.

One more done in November at 6:30pm -- note the signal strength then fading --- before the house phone rang !

I doubt there has been any recent increase of power of Spanish stations on MW.
Its just that they are more noticeable now with the closure of high power MW transmitters that used to be easily received at night here from other countries (apart from the UK) in recent years.
MW now extinct in Germany, only one relatively low power MW station in France (1593kHz) , Luxembourg gone, the Netherlands has now only one station (religious on 1008) with any significant power, etc etc

Bear in mind the large land mass of Spain, which is hardly all covered by FM , one of the reasons MW is still very much in use there

Caroline is going to start regular programmes on 648, Friday 22 December 2017, if I am reading this right.

Great morning of presenting -- and a mention !!
Now we need a transmitter here in the West -- I'm sure 252 could be re-tuned to a MW frequency when it becomes surplus to requirements .

    Happy Christmas all
    Regards

It would be good to see 252 reused but the modern RTE bosses are hell bent on ridding us of such diabolical ancient technology that I bet they will never allow it to be used again.

They also have the 567 transmitter sitting idle.
