Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A relative who was PAYE until lockedown recently received a letter in the post saying their bank details were changed.

Logged onto ros.ie and under bank details it says This account will be used for PAYE tax refunds, account holder name Irish Tax Rebates, then under that section there is a paye agent section.

Anyone able to shed light as to what is going on here?

Did they engage, Irish Tax Rebates, to make submission?

Did the relative recently engage the services of Irish Tax Rebates to handle tax refunds on their behalf?

No. Would it be possible that their employer did?

They signed up to an agent service online at some point and probably didn't read the terms and conditions of what they signed up to.

They must have signed up, no other possible way!
Girl in work done it too, clicked a link on Facebook and just filled in the details (as you do 🙄)

Happens all the time, page comes up asking if you want to check if you are due a refund for free, people enter their PPS, sign a form digitally, and that signs them up with the likes of Taxback as their “agent”. Agent then updates the persons bank detail with Revenue with their own, and receive a cut of any future refunds.

You need to get them to call Revenue, or send in a myEnquiry asking for the agent to be removed, or contact taxback and cancel with them directly. Once agent has been taken off the account they can then re add their own bank details. No point just removing the bank details, as taxback can just go back in and overwrite your changes while they are still the tax agent.

They must have signed up with Irish Tax Rebates at some point. They are a legitimate company. They deal with Revenue on your behalf. Any refund is paid into their bank account. You will get the money minus a certain percentage which is their fee.

I don't like these kinds of companies. Revenue have made it very easy to do most of the stuff Irish Tax Rebates will do for you yourself. Plus you keep your full refund if you do it yourself.
