PAYG with no plan, just credit

Is there such a thing anymore as a PAYG sim that you can top up and use the credit to pay for individual calls and texts? Not a plan that expires after a month. This is for someone who mostly just answers the phone, and might make a dozen short calls and send a handful of texts per year. No data usage.

    Thanks

There's eir that has that, also I think tesco mobile now lets you keep your credit. Maybe three as well.

Main problem with Eir PAYG is that SIM has to be topped up every 5 months.

Tesco credit only lasts the duration of the plan on the 15e plan

All networks will let you top up by small amounts (5 euro) and keep that to use as needed but the main factor to consider is the top up interval.

IMO Vodafone is the best network for keeping a number active for infrequent use, 5 euro every 6 months and use that as needed. Call cost is high at around 40c per minute so bear that in mind. SMS cost 15 cent.

If it's mostly for incoming calls and a few text then 10 euro per year would be all you'd need.
