Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking for some help as a new convert to Android please.

So on my iPhone I can airplay a video from my browser to my Apple TV and still browse other apps on my phone without interrupting the airplay.

I bought a Pixel 2 and have a Chromecast. I downloaded Tubio so I can cast video from my browser to the Chromecast but when my phone sleeps or I leave the Tubio app it stops the video. How do I get around this?

    Thanks.

What is the source of the video? You're trying to cast a video that you're viewing in your chrome browser on your phone?

Yeah, but I'm casting from Tubio because the chrome browser won't let me unless I mirror the whole screen to the Chromecast.

I dunno why exactly you would want to do that. Maybe that's the only way you could get it to work on iOS. Is whatever you're watching only available through a webpage?

YouTube, Netflix etc all cast directly to chromecast, as do other apps which can't be talked about here.

Yes it's only available through a website.

I want to cast the video and still use my phone to browse other apps or websites.

    I don't think it's possible. What's the website you're streaming from?

Android sorely lacks an equivalent to AirPlay. The Chromecast functions best when it pulls content from a service like Netflix itself and the phone simply acts as remote, no content is actually cast from the phone to the TV. AirPlay is system level so once your content is streaming from the system player you’re free us use your device for other things. Just like how Picture in Picture works for any video on iPads and Macs.

There are implementations of AirPlay for Kodi etc to receive video and audio so it may be worth looking for something similar to stream from Android. The system integration however may still be an issue so the video stream may stop when you do something else.

If playing these kind of videos is a regular thing consider a TV box like a Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC or something and play the video directly from that.
