    Interesting...there was an alleged Goshawk reported in Corkagh one or 2 days ago...this could be either that or a sparrowhawk, but it looks big.

    I've a couple of the dead one but couldn't snap the larger one flying. It took off as soon as you got within 50 feet of it.

    The larger bird seemed to have a distinct white band on it's tail feathers.

    Thanks a lot - I am checking with some friends...there is mention of a Buzzard, but in my view the tail is too "barred" for it to be one.

    There is consensus that it's a Buzzard. The barred tail threw me off a bit.

    Definitely a Buzzard. Only needs to be reported if there's a suspicion of it having been illegally killed, or potentially died of bird flu. It looks like it has been there a while so not easy to confirm if either was the case, but if you find any more dead birds there make sure to report them.
