Its a nice spot. With plenty of restaurants. When there I usually eat in the shopping centre upstairs. Its cheaper.
There is a train into Cais do sodre (Lisbon).Try get to sintra while there.
Estoril is down the coast has has a hotel. Friends stayed there and it was fine. Can't remember the name!

Cascais is lovely. We stayed away from the main square restaurants, there's lots of bars & restaurants hidden away in narrow streets.

We ate a superb burger at a small restaurant, Os Bordallos.

The public park is lovely (lots of turtles) and the marina is a good spot for beer in the afternoon.

We were there for a week a couple of years ago- loved it. It's very laid back easy going. The park is lovely. Walk the prom to Esteril, we did it every day. Avoid the obviously tourist trap restaurants. We wouldn't normally head to an Irish bar but in fairness- the one in the lane opens late, has a bit of music, and is a good option for a late drink. You'll have a great time-enjoy

Sorry to resurrect this post but looking for some advice. We are a family of 5 heading to Cascais for few days this July. We were not planning on hiring a car.
What would be best way to get from Lisbon airport to Cascais?
Is the public transport good? Or would anyone recommend taxi firm we could book?
    Thanks in advance for advice.

You could get the Metro from Lisbon Airport to Cais do Sodre (the train station where the train to Caiscais leaves from). Get the red line from the airport and change at Almeda for Cais do Sodre. It's a great system, frequent and cheap and easy to understand. And if you have any trouble, the majority would speak English.

Takes 40 min to get from Cais do Sodre to Caiscais and the trains run every 20 min.

Thank you so much for your info. Wasnt sure if we would be better off arranging transport as there are 5 of us ....would prefer to use public transport if its do-able.
Do you think we would be saving much by taking public transport?
    Thanks again for your advice.

For something a little different while there I can recommend the Jazz club - great fun : https://www.facebook.com/CASCAISJAZZCLUB/

And I would also recommend taking the public transport route. We didnt use taxis at all as it was so reliable and cheap.

And I would also agree with "Cascais is lovely. We stayed away from the main square restaurants, there's lots of bars & restaurants hidden away in narrow streets."

If you take the street to the left of O'Neills pub and keep going you will find lots of lovely bars and restaurants off the beaten track.

They string lights across the street so easy to find.
